Dear Ryan
« on: April 08, 2015, 03:05:51 PM »
So I and my lovely lady were enjoying a meal in Lviv.  I believe it is Kievco or something.  You are met at the door by a man in Ukraine army outfit, have to salute to Ukraine. Slava Ukraina!  And you are given some honey vodka before going in.

My lady and I have a similar sense of humor, which helps a lot because humor can be very difficult.  It is easy to insult without any intention.  But we get along well and so most of our conversations are filled with smiles.

Which brings us to another American man in the restaurant at the same time.  He did not appear to be enjoying himself.  When his girlfriend wanted to take a picture of him and the other members of their party she told him to smile he was making everyone wait.  Even my lady made a comment to me that he did not look like a pleasant man.

I don't know what was happening with him, his lady was very pretty, young, slender and of course dressed to the nines.

I hope things will go well for you and that the rest of your trip is more fun for you.

It sounds like you were at Kryjivka. Here's a blurb about it:

Quote
When the uniformed guard opens the peep-hole to this theme café/restaurant and says “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine), that’s your cue to respond “Heroyam slava” (Glory to its heroes)... Once inside, you’ll find a fascinating and jovial bunker complete with grenades, rifles and other military antiques.

Too bad I couldn't get back to Lviv in time to join, with my fiancee, you and your lady. The UPA memorial restaurant, Kryivka, is a fun place, even for we residents.
