VKO Airport
« on: April 19, 2015, 01:57:29 PM »
Hi all, its just a few days till my trip (yes, I'll post a TR) but I have a quick question.  Does anyone know if there is  flower shop/stand at VKO Airport?  I don't want to even attempt bringing some from home as my total flight/layover time is 22 hours and I already know there is nowhere I can buy flowers in JFK

Where is your final destination? who is picking you up?
If you are arranging an airport pickup maybe you can arrange for your driver to
pick up some flowers for you, or the apartment manager to have some delivered.

Regarding VKO, I don't know. I've been there a couple of times but wasn't looking
for flowers.

If your girl is picking you up then my idea isn't very good.

Yup, my lady is picking me up.  I like the Chocolate Rose idea.  Wonder if I can find one in JFK.  I have 9 hours to walk around anyway!

Actually, most countries don't allow live plants to arrive. Especially the U.S.

I took one beautiful red rose with me and it was an instant hit with my lady. It made the 22hr flight from Seattle/Chicago/Helsinki/Kyiv without any damage!!!

There are hundreds of places to buy great looking flowers after you arrive to Moscow. Yeah I know, you want to have some when you first lay eyes on her but believe me, having them when you get off the plane isn't necessary or expected. I would suggest you buy he a nice arrangement after you've arrived and collected your marbles

Best to find a gal who says: "Don't waste money on flowers that will be gone in a few days."

I found several of them.

ken, here is a newer map of VKO and how to get around. Click on it, and it expands to read and see more easily:

http://www.vnukovo.ru/upload/images/airport-map-eng-big.png

Terminal A is the newest and very modern, but it is mainly domestic flights, so I cannot say whether your flight will deplane at Terminal B or A. The flower kiosk that I recall is in A. Problem:  I don't recall that one can get from B to A without exiting to outside, and then going thru security to enter A. Maybe there is a flower kiosk at B, but I am not certain.

And therin is an issue I was going to raise-- a change of flights can mean exactly what you indicate above-- and it means in effect-entering Russia where a visa is required--even to be able to collect bags and re-check them in the same terminal.
No visa= lots of Russian stupidity in dealing with the problem YOU may have!

How do I know the specifics? Despite getting reassurances from airline staff at check-in-it was precisely this problem that I ( & numerous others) were confronted with. Guaranteed to burn hours of transit time~!!
