Forgive the thread food hijack, but:

...after two years in Singapore, I developed an appreciation for good, authentic north Indian curry (not madras, not vindaloo...I think you have to be native-born to be able to eat those forms of extremely hot Indian food). Surprisingly, my Ukrainian fiancee and future stepdaughter are developing a fondness for it also.

I love fiery hot Indian foods. When I worked in India my friends would tell the waiters at restaurants that I preferred my food to be as spicy as Indians liked.  But upon returning to the US a number of us would eat at a Thai restaurant for lunch.  The menu said that you could order dishes with zero stars, one star, two stars, or three stars for spiciness. I usually ordered four stars. I once tried five stars but the food was so fiery that I could barely finish my lunch, and my stomach hurt all afternoon.  But our co-worker from Mumbai always ordered his lunch nine star hot. It had so many Thai hot red pepper flakes that it was a different color than our food.

Hot food is typical of hot climates, which is apparently nonsensical ;) - the basic reason was that food spoiled much more quickly there in the absence of fridges, and long ago spices were found to retard the process because of their mild anti-bacterial properties.

Afterwards, it became an acquired taste.

With the four star dish, yes.  I don't know about the nine star dish. There was no way I was going to try something that spicy.

Correct. Eating certain spicy foods can also kill or repel parasites commonly found in tropical regions. Peppers also cause the body to sweat which is our natural way to cool down.

My wife now loves spicy foods after moving here to the US  :)

But this is why I was looking for an FSU wife - because they DON'T have spice in their foods!  :o

No worries-not all FSU women like spicy. ;)
Also if they do,it probably will be only while  eating in a restaurant.

It's not always about taste. Some people like the pain when the spicy food goes in and some even like the pain when it goes out.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

If you write a few women, your odds are bad. If you write a thousand women, your chances are good in finding a woman that fits your criteria and finds you attractive enough to be her husband.

Exactly, this is a numbers game. The future Mrs________________(your name here)
is out there waiting, you just need to get past all the girls who aren't the future Mrs out
of the way first. I have no idea how many women I've written but it was many thousands.

Udachi!

This last trip to Kiev (last month) I noticed quite a few black men (not "colored", straight up black) that were walking around with their Ukrainian squeeze.  They all appeared to be happy and having a good time, walking hand in hand.

I'd say a lot of it has to do with how you represent yourself (how you dress, manners, etc.).  Write to a bunch of women (or make a trip) and see what happens.  Some women (and men) will rule you out instantly just due to the way you look but that could be said about any people in any country.  Oh well.  All you can do is put yourself out there and try.

??

Not, my experience... but then I adore Georgian food - which is popular in FSU countries..

For example - Ajika is akin to Harissa from Morocco (N.Africa) or Muhammara - from  Turkey / Lebanon - the Levant.

Please excuse the Curmudgeon in my posts ..he will be cured by being reunited with his loved one ;)

My favorite Georgian food is Kupati with Tkmali sauce it's a zesty, very flavorful with
a kind of sweet/spicy hot. The Kupati is spicy pork sausages and the Tkmali sauce is
made from green sour plums and hot peppers.

If you have any plans to kiss a girl in the next 24 hours make sure that she has some
too to cancel each others breath out.
