Congrats Clyde!  I know you are very relieved!  Now you can move on with your life...
The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.  michelangelo

Yes, now is the next wait for the green card. I know of one couple who had their interview in Baltimore, in March, and they are still waiting. The Officer said nothing to them about whether they were approved.

What is the deal with these SS#s. My friend's son has been here 2 weeks on his J1 visa and has an SS# already and he is only going to be here until the end of Sept. Does he have a temporary SS# or is that a good SS from now until the end of time?

His SS card is likely stamped with the statement that the card is only valid when accompanied by work authorization.

Anyone who is authorized to work in the US can (and in almost all cases, is required if they are working) receive a SS#.

That makes sense since he also has the DC2909? form as well. I guess what I was wondering was why it took Clyde's wife so long to get the SS# when in his case he is barely over his jet lag and he has one. I thought it must be a different type of SS card. Thanks.

SoC's wife's SSN card should also have that same stamp on it, "Not Valad For Employment Without EAD".

Once she gets her GC she can trade that one in for another without the stamp on it.  LPR's don't need an EAD.

Errr....Clyde didn't you just have your interview with your wife for her Green Card??  If so, then if I am not mistaken...the Green Card takes the place of the EAD??

Our Green Card took about a week and a half to get here after the interview.

He had the EAD in April and the green cards are very slow in Baltimore.

An attorney said the I-485's must be reviewed by a manager and are taking up to one year from date of interview.
