What does she know?
« on: March 17, 2016, 02:20:57 PM »
So, you've stumbled across a Russian dating site aimed at the West, and there you found someone very interesting. It may surprise you how much she knows already about your country. (My experience is that it should also surprise you at how much she doesn't know.)

When "Stacy" (Anastasia) Yurishcheva, who is looking for potential donors to help supplement her scholarship for study abroad, reached out in regards to continuing her study of journalism at the University of Oregon, I found her proposition to be intriguing. Anyone who has already accomplished what she has using social media such as her blog, Twitter, and YouTube, has a potential career worth my encouragement. I do plan to be a part of her dream and if you do also, thank you. We need more credible Russian journalists who will be trained to view all sides of a story, not just the spoon fed versions.

So, how much do Russian teens know about America? Thanks to this bright young lady you are about to find out:

As a journalist, Mendy, I thought you'd do your research before recommending us to a site like this.   My daughter is finishing her education at the University of Oregon.  I was naturally intrigued.  I was in Eugene only three weeks ago.

But having watched Anastasia on the topic of Ukraine, I saw the same brainwashed idiot and lack of objectivity that we've experienced from the younger generation of Russia.

To quote her:  "Kyiv is run by Nazis.  No Russian troops were in Eastern Ukraine, etc., etc."

So much for any contributions coming from me.  And I would dissuade all others as she is NOT objective.

Having seen that, and I had missed it, I am converting to your view. My bad.

Of course if someone does not agree with your political views, anything they do and say is invalid.

I checked out the channel and can not sya I like it, due to the reason she needs to be in the picture at all times.
Seems the videos are made to boost her ego mora than to give information.

As for knowledge, any person who can read English and has internet can find out a lot about any place in the world, including local news and pictures. Google will provide even how the area looks. Not getting such information would show a lack of interest.

Most 20 year old girls know 1/50th of what they think they know,
which can only be surpassed by 20 year old men who know 1/147th
of what they think they know.

She should have investigated both sides of the issue for sure, but
as well as you know Russians how likely is that to happen? in a
story about Russia?

Of course you would believe that--given that you have repeatedly said on this forum much the same as this-

To quote her:  "Kyiv is run by Nazis.  No Russian troops were in Eastern Ukraine, etc., etc."

Your conclusions reached are all too often obtuse-let alone ridiculous. You can add humourless and   inappropriate to that.
