America is great again.. at least for this day.  After all, a birthday is something even a President can't take away.

Went to open air concert performed by small municipal band.
Various pieces winding up with marching band numbers, theme songs of the 5 military branches, America the Beautiful and finishing up with Stars and Stripes Forever.

Apparently that last number is known throughout the world.
Conductor told story about concert in China by famous American orchestra playing the very best classical music back during Mao's time.
The Chinese attendees were mostly very unimpressed with any of the music . . . until they broke into the Stars and Stripes Forever . . . at which point the Chinese began clapping, humming along, etc.

Then we went to Chinese 'all you can eat' buffet to overeat.
Hadn't checked out any of the current movies or timing, so decided to come back home and watch some recorded or DVD movies.

That's our big day.

Neighbor had been  having huge BBQ picnic for over 25 years, but cancelled this year.  Vines in the patio became too intrusive, were buckling up the bricks and concrete and even attacking the house foundation.  So big construction work  going on  there.

Both grape vines (Concord) being common to North America and so-called bittersweet (an invasive vine from China) roots are strong enough to displace foundations over time. By time I am thinking 4 to 8 years.
