Looks like some are getting free apartments.  On May 6, Motorola & 30 other militants received the keys to a highrise apartment in the heart of Donetsk.  Plans are to hand out an additional 2000 apartments.   When asked about the real owners of those apartments Z explained, “All their rights are intact. But the former owners now live in Kyiv so it is physically impossible for them to live in these arpartments.”

Ochka is now in Kyiv.
She bought an unfinished apartment there near the new US Embassy back in 2014.  Friends and relatives finished it out and it is now rented.
We were hoping that prices for remaining unfinished apartments in this same building were much cheaper now, and we would think of buying more.
BUT they are not.
The prices in USD per square meter are the same now as in 2014, and the UAH prices have risen to match the fall of the UAH relative to USD.
However, this is a prime property because of its location; and Ochka has not had a chance to look at other properties.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

John, could you explain what makes each 'unpresentable?'

I assume they do not "mix" with the desired architecture style of the area.   And they violated the building agreement by making them taller than the permit allowed them to be, thereby sticking out like a sore thumb above the rest of the buildings in the area.... but I didn't write the article.

A little update on real estate in Ukraine in the linked story .
In other news-- the first Blockchain settlement just went through in the last few days .
Story does cover some Kyiv prices also. The $ numbers in story are closer to the mark than some have thrown around in recent discussion.
The Kyiv Post checked out cottages and houses for sale near Kyiv, in coastal areas and in the mountains for a range of prices, based on real estate classified ads aggregated by websites lun.ua, dom.ria, address.ua and others.

How much does it cost to buy a vacation house in Ukraine?

The prices of houses in the more modern cottage villages that have sprung up around Kyiv in recent years, which often have security and are connected to utilities networks, start from around $80,000 for homes that are currently being built.

The price of a new build starts from approximately $150,000, while a property from 200 to 400 square meters costs approximately $170,000. For example, the 174-square-meter unfurnished white-brick house in the resort village of Novosilky, about an hour from Kyiv by car, is on sale for $170,000.

For the price of a high-end apartment in Kyiv — about $500,000 — one would buy a spacious house in the luxury segment in one of the prestige villages near Kyiv, such as Koncha Zaspa, just 20 minutes’ drive from the city center.

However, the highest prices are those for homes in private cottage villages such as Riviera Villas, where 400-square-meter houses are on offer at lun.ua for as much as $2 million. The price includes developed infrastructure, such as kindergartens, spa clubs, swimming pools, tennis courts, football and volleyball grounds, playgrounds, beaches, restaurants, and a pier for boats.

For a few who  argued  that relatively  small $ amounts were the usual-- you better read story twice ( along with Trenchcoat and his "poor" country comments and his views on how girls live !!!)
