Interesting to read the German version of this anniversary

Never realised VVP lost an older brother in the siege.

One of the more significant testaments to human will.

Any traveler to St. Piter should visit the Siege Museum.  Explanations in English are few yet unnecessary to comprehend the suffering and determination.

What if Hitler had delayed Operation Barbarossa for 2-3 years?

"What if Hitler had delayed Operation Barbarossa for 2-3 years? "

bad timing is actually one of the reasons he failed!!!
had he started in early April, instead on late June, he might have been able to take Moscow/Tula before the bad weather
but hitler wanted to finish operations in Yugoslavia before starting in on Russia, big mistake...
don't know if taking Moscow before the winter of '41 Soviet counter offensive would've won the war though...
another dumb move was declaring war on USA after Pearl Harbor
the Axis treaty with Japan did NOT require him to declare war on the USA...
he coulda skipped that part of WWII
