Hi Everyone,

This is Randy, a not so young but ambitious diplomat who has probably traveled 42% of the world. I'm from US and presently positioned in India.

I've fallen in love with a pretty woman 6 months back while I was posted in Minsk, Belarus. Though everything is fine between us but there are certain glimpses that coaxed me to know more about the dynamics of women from erstwhile Soviet Countries.

Looking forward to some awesome insights from the folks here.

Welcome to the forum Randy. How long was your stay in Belarus? Have you been to other FSU countries and if so, how long did you stay? It would be great to have your experience seeing the world while being single. You're a lucky guy.

WOW . . . we commoners have been referring to former Soviet Countries.

Now a diplomat can upgrade us to fancier words . . . erstwhile.

Women are women everywhere, and they come in more than 57 varieties.   

I predict success for you.  Being a diplomat you have some worldly experience, and such is important in embracing another culture.   You are likely sophisticated enough to blend your two worlds, taking the best from each. 

A 100 years ago I worked for the UN briefly (Iran and Egypt), attended the diplomat parties, and still retain a close relationship with friends from the Dutch and Swedish embassies.   

Times have changed, and my experience was limited, yet I found the Americans too insulated.  Most tended to stay together, while Europeans were more eager about cultural immersion, with notable exceptions.  Us UN folks were less concerned with postulating theories and would go without toilet paper and sometimes (snowstorm)  sleep on dirty sheets.
