Is there a Russian/Ukrainian equivalent for Smith or Jones?

What are some common Russian surnames?

A farrier is typically a blacksmith, one who shoes horses.  This profession was known locally as "the smithy", and the name Smith is a derivitive.

The same can be said for such names as;
Miller, Mason, Carpenter, Brewer, and probably many more if I paused to  dwell upon it.
