Hello from Globetrotter
« on: November 01, 2006, 01:08:00 PM »
Hi All,

Been around for a few years on the PL board but not here.  Had a little trouble registering, but Dan fixed it...thanks Dan.

I started a few years back, wrote several, met several, and almost pulled the trigger with a Russian girl except for a little problem with a pre-nup.  Dated locals for a while, then jumped back in with a 44 yr old Russian doctor about one year ago.  (I'm 54)  I bought her a tour package to UK and met her in London for a week about 6 months back.  We had a blast.  (I have traveled to more than 50 countries for my business and London had been a frequent business stop for me.  I was a good tour guide for her.)  We hit it off and began to plan for the next meeting.  I found a medical seminar here and had her register, pay the fee, get the invitation, (I sent her the money, but had her wire transfer it to the conference people from the Bank of Russia so my fingerprints were nowhere to be found) and a debit card from her bank.  She got a multi-entry business visa, went to the conference, and stayed with me for a month.  Again we had a blast.  She loved my little town, my dog, house, Chicago, my family and friends, and was amazed how friendly Americans were in general.  She'll be back for Christmas, and I'll go home with her (to Samara) for New Years and her Christmas.

So......I'm a little different than some of you who havn't had the opportunity to have your squeeze see where and how you live, and for her to be able to return anytime she wants (for 180 days per visit).

She's a top doctor, (cardiologist) now manager of that part of her hospital, a chief surgeon before that, has a masters in molecular biology, and almost fluent in English.  Better than that, she's a good person, great fun, and everyone who met her adored her.

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Let the questions fly.

Welcome!  I Like the windy city but prefer the big apple.

Nice going on getting the visa for her to see you in your native habitat. Wish it were that easy for others. Sounds like a great gal. I wish you good luck

Welcome Globetrotter,

I hope all works out with you and your doctor. The last three stories I've heard about men and their RW doctors ended in disaster. :(

Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Welcome Globetrotter,
I am glad to hear one more happy love story! And still there is something mysterious in Russian women that make men to jump back to them even after an unsuccessful try :-). I am very curious to know what the mystery is. I would like to know your opinion. The best of luck!

Hi RVRW,

No mystery here.  I had this discussion with her while she was here, and told her I had dated many Polish girls in my teens and 20's.  My Dad had a furniture store in a Polish neighborhood, and I dated his customers daughters.  I told her I'm not on a mission to marry someone from the FSU, but just the best girl I can find.  I told her I liked the fact there are so many girls looking from where she is from.

Also, I am not in a big, big hurry, and she knows this also.  It will take at least another year for me to pull the trigger.  It does help, however, in that she can come here anytime, and me go there.

While she was here and we would go shopping for groceries, or cosmetics or gifts for her or her family, I'd pull one on her.  When we would be next to check out, I'd push her ahead of me, give her the money, and tell her to check out.  She got a big kick out of it, and told me she never heard "Have a nice day" before, and she would respond, "You too."  For me, this is a proper dating/courting experience, with the obvious that we are a country, language and culture away.  We talked about previous relationships and why they didn't succeed.  I told her about my other Russian girl and the pre-nup, and about domestic girls I dated and my ex., and my expectations.  She told me about her experiences.

She would like to practice medicine here, but realizes her residency will be 3 years for an MD, and 3 more for her speciality....after passing TOEFL and the medical boards.  We found out that with her biology backround (masters) that she could also become a research scientist or run a pathology lab immediately.  Also, residents are paid more than 50K not the 35K previously, so she would feel she is contributing.  I told her that if we hooked up, I would support her in either, or anything else she wanted to do.  (By the way, her med school is AMA accredited, and she finished first in her class in both biology and med school....and was in school until she was 32.)  I got her special tours of the best hospitals in Chicago, and both said to contact them first if she moves here, so they certainly recognized her skills.

As I said before, she is just a good person and great fun to be with.  All the other stuff was pretty terrific also.  Well, a little off the subject for this forum, but I was here...so what the hell.
