Why did Clyde post "Where is Leslie?"
« on: November 12, 2006, 11:09:35 AM »
Well it is me, Son of Clyde, sitting at Patrick's pc. We will go for lunch soon.
To tell the truth, I was curious. Leslie seemed to be fed up with a few things going on at the time and he disappeared for about 3 weeks. I was used to seeing a post or two a day from Leslie. Could Leslie be abrasive, yes but I think he had some good advice too.
I can be difficult at times myself.

I am concerned when any productive member of RWD disappears without a farewell post.

Leslie and I traded a few PM's and he gave me some sound advice and I was appreciative. We did not see eye to eye on some things and I was determined to let him know I did not dislike him as I do not dislike anyone on the board.

I did not appreciate Albert's bragging about being with 150 women but maybe I was a little jealous too.

I think the thread you are talking about was locked so I really don't want to start something that Dan doesn't want but I think that a lot of people saw Albert's question in a different light than SOC's question.

When SOC asked about Leslie, for those of us not in the know he seemed to fall off the face of the earth.  I don't dislike Leslie either but I do dislike some of the posts he has made.  I think SOC asked out of concern.

Michaelangelo has been posting sporadically all along.  There was no reason for concern that he may have had an accident or a health problem and since that was not a concern people took Albert's question as being nebby (I have no idea if that was correct or not and don't really want to be all that involved in the debate)

If Albert wanted to know where Michaelangelo was he should have pm'd him and if Mike would have wanted him to know he would have told him.

I am not saying that maybe Albert did or did not get jumped on a little quickly.  Perhaps they should have just said what I suggested.  If you want to know PM him.  Maybe some people had the impression that they were not that close that Albert should have had concern.  That is history anyway.   My two cents worth is that is what happened.   I hope it answers your question.

Turboguy,

Yes, Patrick had mentioned Albert's bringing up Son of Clyde and I saw the thread had been locked. I wanted to clarify why I made the post about Leslie's disappearance.

If I remember correctly, Michaelangelo had indicated he would not be posting for awhile. He did not just disappear.

I prefer someone explain when they will leave the board and we will not be left wondering where they are.

Often (not always) when someone leaves the board and makes their "Farewell Speech," they do so in an attempt to create some drama or gain favor for an unpopular position. I don't have much regard for the drama queens.

Les showed more class than that, and just decided that life outside the board was taking a higher priority. [Not meaning to speak for Les - he will correct me if he chooses].

Sure it is a little disconcerting - and you hope that past contributing members are doing OK. I occasionally think about TigerPaws and Killer-B and donna pedro - to name a few. Maybe they will be back - and maybe not. Life goes on, in any case.

- Dan

Ok, you can count me as a "drama queen".
To tell the truth, I at times feel as if I have nothing to offer. I am not posting personal things that will cause my being clue batted to oblivion. I am taking a one day at a time approach to my home situation and I am learning to deal with a family whose personalities are much different than mine.

Nope - I wasn't referencing you SoC.

I have seen dozens - maybe hundreds - of people who make their over-dramatic swan songs over the years. My comment was, sincerely, quite generalized.

Sorry for double posting, I think Donna Pedro felt most of the guys on the board were clueless and headed for disaster. She was tired of giving advice that was not appreciated.

I really think with Doug it is a business tactic. People see his posts and some agree with his logic and he can find potential customers by being controversial. At least it is what he told me by PM.

SoC,

I think the best course of action is for you to refrain from making ANY comment about Doug.

Dan, I suggest you remove Jet's post, mine and yours because they all mention what's his name. If you want to be petty it's your board and I will behave as you wish.

Larry,

Allow me to remind you of the times I have told you to avoid a particular topic/response. You may consider it "petty" if you like - but I grow weary of cleaning up garbage left behind because a few people don't like each other and cannot leave THEIR "petty" behavior off the board.
