If you single, still looking, guys can manage to find a halfway good looking gal who will put up with your BS and still wake up in the morning with a smile on her face, I'd say you've won at least half the battle.  Commit all your search resources to finding beauty only, and I think you'll be the most unhappy man in the world.

Back to the original point,

I gotta say yes riv you can score beautiful women.  The very 1st RW I corresponded with I am still talking to and I can assure you she is one of the most gorgeous women you'll ever see.  My friend who met her told me she is a 9.5 on the San Diego scale and he's a 26 year old lawyer that lives there so he knows what he's talking about.   

The two other girls I met and had a shot with on this journey were amazing as well, I'm talking guys here would die if they knew how hot they were.

It could be because my standards are low, but considering that my ex dated a NBA player in her past (although he was on the Clippers and was before they were good) and these girls were better looking than her, I'd say I have a good point of reference.

That being said I'm 28 so I probably can get meet the young good looking girls just by showing up in Russia. 

I don't want to take away from JB though, his point is very valid.  Looks fade and chasing a 10 is not going to pay off considering opportunity costs.  Capt B put it the best, the yes/no test and move on!  Problem is you can't move on from there until you get your butt in Russia.

Almost none of the readership here are spring chickens themselves, yet I see middle aged man after man reject the 30-40 y.o. woman. 

Read this carefully, guys.  Cuz you see, the best FSU girls are in their 30s. 

I know.  Because I wasted a lot of time with girls in the 22-25 age range. 

Yes, they are beautiful.  Yes, they have just finished university, are childless, and more available.

But the maturity is simply not there, even though you tell yourself it is.

A good friend of mine in Kharkov, a Ukrainian man, pointed me in this direction.  He told me girls ages 30-40 had more years in the USSR and were different than the younger girls. In general, I think he is correct.

I'm very very happy with my 30 something year old girl.

I had a 27 yr old lady turn me down while I was in Moscow when she found out I was only 28.  I've only gained interest from ladies 23 or under.  So I'd say use the 5-10 year rule no matter your age, but I don't know how it works for guys older than 45...

DKMM, it all primarily depends on two factors, and to some only number one really counts, and to others only number two counts:

1.  How a guy has aged and looks.
2.  How much money he commands.

Luckily, for most girls it is a happy medium with both a minimal looks and dollar requirement to be eligible for the game.

A third but marginal initial rule, which over time becomes more important is his ability to say the things she wants to hear in a way that she will believe him  .

So reading posts and looking at photos on this site we can conclude that many of the over 45s (as you put it) are doing very well with beautiful and intelligent 20 somethings from FSU. Any such evidence is lacking for the young gays. So we can conclude that the 5-10 year rule or anything else is not applicable in this game.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where are these over 45s who are doing well with 20 something FSU women? If "doing well" is writing letters and taking girls on expensive vacations, then you're right. 

The lack of "evidence" of men DKMM's age having stable and healthy relationships with FSU women has nothing to do with the laughable myth that FSU women prefer their men to be 20+ their senior. It's more likely guys in that age range simply don't have the financial wherewithall to engage in such a hideously expensive pursuit as this, or they haven't yet soured on dating local women.

Heres one and there are a bunch more.  Look at the age survery for the numbers.  There were a suprising number with 20, 25 year age differences and a great deal had 15 to 20 year age differences. 

Groov, I will agree for sure that guys in their 20's / early 30's have not thought about out of country dating because of $ problems and the fact that they think they can hook a girl with their criterion back home.

Welllll, I married a drop dead beautiful woman.  She sent me normal everyday photos, as well as semi-professional (her friends mom is a professional photographer) photos.  She is as real as can be, highly intellegent (A combined degree from St Pete's Shipbuilding university where Putin went to (finance, and Engineering), a masters of sport (gymnastics), 1 year nursing diploma and a 8/10 in English while in Russia.  She also had a fantastic job at a Bank and all by the ripe age of 24 (I am 33). 

Many ladies have come up to her and have asked her if she is a model, and teen girls flock to her making comments like, "Oh My Gawd, you look like the ladies in the magazines I read". 

At the end of the day, I believe she looks like the classic model you see in magazines, however, it was her brains and personality which I fell in love with.  She is the most positive, out-going lady I have ever met. 

All in all, I am one happy duck.

My search was more on a pass/fail basis as far as looks also.  I  had a range in mind, not a number.  The thing that was most important to me were the eyes.  Not only do they tell you a lot about a woman, but with age everything else will fade, but the eyes never change and will always be as beautiful as the first time you saw them.  My wife was one who more than matched her photos when i met her.  In fact the photo of her that is the most beautiful in my opinion is an imoromptu one take with her webcam.  But her looks are definitly just the icing on the cake. One of the most intelligent, well educated women I have ever met.  Like someone told me once, "Sooner or later you have to get out of bed and talk".
