Investing in Russia

This article is a couple weeks old but I thought it brings to light some of the better known Russian mutual funds, as well as insight into the Russian economy overall.

Also, if anybody out there buys individual stocks and wants to own a piece of the action I've done VERY well with three stocks traded on the NYSE.  Too bad it was just chump change instead of real money...     The tickers are:
ROS, VIP, WBD.

ROS is Russia's version of what used to be AT&T here.  Partially owned by the Kremlin so I'd say its a safe bet.  VIP is a mobile phone company spanning most of the CIS, they are the Beeline guys.  WBD is that company that makes those "Ya" juices as well as well known dairy products everybody drinks there. 

It might (or might not) impress your lady to own some a slice of the better known companies over there.  But in any case they are growing insanely fast so I keep buying more of all three.  They make excellent gifts too...
