Merry Christmas
« on: December 24, 2006, 05:15:35 PM »
Sorry I didn't post earlier, we were in Brooklyn visiting a Ukrainian couple.

We spent a few hours with Viking on Saturday and had a very nice lunch at China Buffet near Bensonhurst. After lunch we saw some incredible Christmas decorations. My Ukrainian friend told me one family spends $60,000.00 for two months, to purchase and maintain the decorations. It was crazy, people dressed up in costume, people selling merchandise from their cars. Cars stopped in the middle of the street in total awe of the somewhat garish decorations.

Please, let's remember the true meaning of Christmas. To be with family and friends.

My wife does not understand that RWD is like an extended family of guys and some ladies who think being Russian is extremely cool.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
If you do not celebrate Christmas, please have a safe holiday and a bright 2007.

It was a wonderful experience for me to have some time with SOC, Irina and her friend Irena. And excuse me if I spelled her name wrong. Even if only for a few hours it was interesting being with some Russian women at a resturant, walking along the streets , going into shops, and being in a Russian (American) home. At one point the second Irena had us driving halfway through Brooklyn to reach this section where the competition for christmas hit new highs. The first Irina had her body sticking up through the sun roof of my jeep to take some pics as we slowly went down some streets with decorations that can only be described as awesome. One house seemed  like he had half the rides in Cony Island (actual working rides) set up on his very spacious front yard.Based upon where we were, I am assuming that these homes were all owned by Tony Soprano's boys, or fat Yuri's.
Tom Hanks in Castaway: You never know what the tide may bring in.
Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.

I'll take a few snapshots of Christmas lights here in the desert. It's amazing how much time and
energy(voltage) some people put into the decorations...
Hey, Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas from Florida
« Reply #5 on: December 25, 2006, 01:13:05 PM »
'Tis the season in Florida.  Photos taken over the past two weeks.  I would think about Global Warming except for JB's Kansas photos.  "Attachment" is not enabled for me, so sorry must post full size.

I am the older guy sweating the most:

This fellow did not receive the memo that  Christmas colors are red and green:

You can tell it is winter - cypress needles are turning brown.  This bird is one of JB's delicacies (which is not funny):

No, cat has it's own flavor, more like dog.

It depends on several things.  Including how many Sand Hill Cranes it has eaten recently...   ;D
