Does your girl wear glasses? Should she?
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:29:04 AM »
Have you noticed that not many girls on the streets of the fsu wear glasses?

It's NOT because they have contacts or have had lasik. Or that their eyes are healthier than their counter-points in the West...

My question to the vets here-- when your girl got to the US, did she have her eyes checked?  If so, did she want to wear glasses?  If so, did she accept the advice of the optometrist?  Or did she have some typical fsu superstitions about wearing glasses?

My wife wore contacts when I first met her and still does.  She has been to the eye doctor here in the US, her vision is 20/400.  She does have a pair of glasses but only wears them in the morning before putting her contacts in.

My wife wears glasses.  Her perscription from the FSU was correct.  I got her new rimless glasses here.  I also got her contacts but she does not like them and prefers glasses which is fine with me.  Higher quality glasses are cheaper here then in the FSU.

I agree with Mir.  I see little difference in the number of people wearing glasses.

When Lena first arrived here I noticed her squinting while looking in the distance and he inability to read signs and such.  Got her an eye exam and sure enough she was blind as a bat with her distant vision.  Once she got her first pair of glasses she said, "Wow, America really is beautiful." We are the perfect couple now when we go out to eat, as she takes her glasses off from driving, I put mine on to read the menu. ;D  I really do not know if she was tested in Russia or it was just missed somehow.  Kind of strange because her parents were very on top of things for the most part.

I have more bad news for you guys too.  "Eyeware" is another fashion statement in the mind of a RW.  Be prepared to purchase many different pairs of frames and lenses so that your lady can express her fashion sense!!!  Ouch!  Lena has taken to buying her frames on Ebay to same a few bucks.

I don't remember the source...but a couple of years ago I read a research report that the US leads the world in glasses wear....and glasses wear is correlated to country income.

So my observation made sense...or at least to me  :)

Hi, guys!
I am a woman and I wear glasses.
I prefer to wear them with bussines suit usually, but my husband just loves to see me in glasses! he says, without them I look too sexy :) I am a very stylish woman (my friends' and Henry's opinion) so I have 5 pairs of glasses and I am not gonna hide them! :) My opinion, the glasses can be  an additional detail to ur look sometimes and if I have excellent eye sight, I would purchase a few pairs just with glass.
And.. I like to see the glasses on a men, it makes him to look more intelligent ;)

Again I quote Dorothy Parker on this issue:

Men seldom make passes
At girls who wear glasses.

Ironically I think glasses on chicks are sexier.  ;)

My (soon to be ex) wife did not need glasses - her eyesight is astonishing.  I had LASIK 2 years ago and my vision before was 20/400, now it's 20/15 and she still sees better than me - my guess is that she is somewhere in the neighborhood of 20/10.  Only person I know with comparable eyesight is my friend who is an airforce pilot...
