Why are consuls considered to be "mean" during interviews?
« on: February 14, 2007, 09:36:07 AM »
Just heard about a visa interview that went rather horridly. Are consuls "mean" or distrustful in general or they act as if they have the demeanor of a strict teacher?

This is rather interesting I have to admit.

I've read of a women leaving her interview crying after being called a prostitute. I think the interviewer is trying to get into a woman's mind if they think she has a less than sincere agenda. If anything, protecting the American she's going to marry. The woman who was called a prostitute was approved a visa. I guess they figured she handled it in one of the potential ways a sincere woman would handle being called a prostitute.

I've heard women having pleasant interviews too. Maybe those women have provided overwhelming evidence of a relationship and knowledge of her man. If a woman doesn't know her man's birthday, I can imagine the interview will proceed to get tough on her.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

So it is possible that woman gets a "bad" interview and gets a visa approval a few days later?

She is either going to get an approval onthe spot or a 221-G. I have heard a few cases where they say they will let them know but it is extramly rare.

If your friend who's existing just above the poverty level in Manhattan while subsisting on hotdogs persists in his quest to bring his GF to the US from Ukraine, you might get a first-hand account. The consular officer in Kiev who does her interview might be a bit exasperated when he sees your pal's I-134 and starts asking questions  :P

Sorry but he's already left to Kiev seriously. I think that he thinks that the consular officer doesn't care about the I-134 much honestly. He believes that since his girlfriend works at the consulate that she will have a complete breeze coming into the States.

Prince, one reason that the ladies may think it is mean, is that they are hearing the one word from their mans country that they have not heard from their man. No!!

Prince, you must understand that the girl is "guilty" until her documents prove her innocence.  Consul officers are charged to consider all girls guilty of immigrate fraud when they enter the room. They must prove their innocence, through the manner they answer questions and through their documents presented.

The officer sits up high in front of the girl, with a barrier between them.  This terrifies most fsu girls, who are scared to death of police, anyway.

But they need not worry--it's all in the documentation.  If they are right, the visa will be granted.

Wow, so is this like a state police type of thing? Glass window? My goodness, so I guess that the consul doesn't like to deal with the person face to face directly. :(

I totally agree woth Zorro. The girls are scared;though if there nothing wrong in the documents, the visa will be given. In Kiev,I didnt see anyone who was refused.
