Anyone else watch the Russia Today channel?
« on: February 22, 2007, 05:57:19 PM »
Unfortunately I don't have a FTA satelite to watch it on a TV, but I watch it online all the time.  It streams pretty well for me, especially when I minimize it into the 2" x 3" screen docked on the taskbar.  They have some interesting programs and I enjoy watching the Russian view of topics like the Middle East.  It's in English, but I get a kick out of the British accents that most of the hot anchorwomen have.

Here's a link for anyone who wants to check it out:

Click the "Watch RT Now" button on the left side.  They also have some cool screen wallpapers at:

Yes, I watch Russia Today very often, I have Directv, and it comes on a local channel here everyday, there is usually some kind of documentary played in the afternoon, and then later in the evening comes the news.

It's interesting to get the Russian perspective on things, and yeah it's funny to hear Russians speak with British accents.  :)

The documentaries they make are very well done, they take place all over Russia and give you a feel for life there, most of the stories are about people, their jobs, their families, just their culture in general, sometimes it fascinating, but can be boring too depending on the topic. All in all, a good channel, I like it, Nataly thinks it's boring  :-\

Jinx,

That's awesome that you get it on your local channel!  I also like the "Peoples of Russia", "Culture Fair" and "Wayfarer" documentaries the best.  I like guessing the cities they describe during commercials.  They display some facts about each city and then zoom down into a map to show a city scene.

Now if I could only find a Russian-language channel that had English subtitles so I could try to follow along...
