You will need a English  speaking guide , my     gal lives there   and is fluent .
Let me know if  you wnat her to help with  your Kiev stay

I may be thinking about visiting Ukraine (Kiev and Kharkov) in late July...  I live near Washington, DC.  It seems that the international flights are much cheaper through the Dulles airport.  I'm just visiting there for fun, enjoyments with no intention of finding a wife.

Thank you for all of info in trying to find the cheapest flight to Ukraine.  If there are any great deal on airplane flight to Ukraine from Dulles or BWI airport, let me know.

Wayne, My wife and our daughter flew from Dulles to Kiev. As a matter of fact they have just returned this week. We have used saveontravels.com. for the past 4 trips. They are in Huston Texas. The price for my wife was $640.00 and $518.00 for our daughter taxes included. My MIL came back with them. We paid $860.00 from Kiev to Dulles for her. We also bought her ticket on this end with no problems. There are good prices out there. They flew KLM.

Wayne

You can book Kiev to Dallas on April 12th one way for $585 inclusive of taxes.Try the Aerosvit web site.
Check here: http://www.eb2-quicktrip.com/VV/Start.do;jsessionid=2431065378AAB1EC1BD03E82684B111C
Looks like they don't connect with Houston but many other US airports are available.

Excellent resource, MIR!  I saved about $300 going through Kiev to Moskva.

www.gotorussia.com/tickets.php3
and
www.gotorussia.net/airline_tickets.htm
are the same company, and yes they are very good in pricing as I mentioned above. I bought a round-trip ticket from Chicago to Kharkov for $1073 (all taxes and fees included) for Easter break, and there were fares at $960 RT if you don't mind transferring airports in NY. I found that Easter week had the highest fares of any time period all year, even higher than Christmas and New Years. Their agents are very friendly as well. I dealt with Barbara who got my tickets to me by FedEx next day air.

Chelchov, some food for thought....May through August are busy traveling times...air-fare is more exspensive and there are less apartments for rent...and also many Kharkhovian's head south to Crimea and Yalta for summer vacations

Scott, Mir, Patrick, gumby510 and FSUrookie remember that I live in Beaumont, Texas. Not Dallas or Washington,D.C. or LA. I think to get an accurate price, you have to factor in where you live.....do you think     Mir, I booked my flight from Kyiv to Kharkov through Aerosvit for $45+ tax. the tax is $29.40 what kind of tax rate do they use (American)???  What kills me is that My Anna, could buy the same ticket in Kharkhov using Aerosvit and she would pay $45 no tax :flowers:

There are good prices even from Texas. As said many times on these forums, if you do the research you will get a good price. No matter where you book, peak season will demand peak prices, as many of you have said. Personally, I have booked thru Airfare.com with good results, but many of the wholesale prices have restrictions such as non-refundable and non-changeable in regard to date and time of travel. Another suggestion, check your local travel agency. A good local agency can also sift thru all the fares, but on the downside they don't always have access to the web-only fares. On taxes, the rates do vary by country, and many times you will get a much cheaper ticket booking overseas, if you are able to do this without a translator. I used KLM once and paid $800 to Kiev, while a guy on the same flight booked thru POL (polish) airlines and got his ticket for $500 using POL as a connecting flight. Lucky for him, he spoke Polish, so he called POL airlines in Poland to get the good price.

yes, but you can get an Alaska Air or some other visa card. Buy everything you can with the card. One mile per dollar spent. Both I and my brother place all of our business expenses on those cards, and then pay them off each month. You pass 10K or in my brother's case 100K a month through on a card and soon you got more miles than you can handle. You don;t need to fly to gain miles, just buy something. I bought a part of my car last month using my visa card. Lots of people do this. I am not original by any means.
