Not sure if i posted this before ,
im sure i have as its my pet peeve lately,, lol
and i know i ranted about the
foolishness of the AOS system.
As it makes folks going thru the proper chanels do backflips, while outlining on thier website all the shortcuts ,
to those who would abuse the system.
it is ironic as he11 , for a system specifically set up to stop this type of visa abuse.
anyway,
after turning in everything over the last few years on time, with all the i's dotted and T's crossed ..
we kept getting requests for more info for a favoriable review of my wifes AOS.
with the same letter stating the requirements, and also stateing , no need to send those !!
as you already have!
and our office has them in the file.
So what do i send for a request for more info?
that outlines that info, yet states they have already recieved all those items , and please do not send them again?
they are your government and are here to help afterall

LOL!
anyway i do think i posted that after a few terse replies to them requesting an interview instead of a continued drawn out request for info they already have..
That we did get an interview.
they asked little to nothing truly relevant to our marriage,, and nothing that wasnt already in documents in front of them..
but we passed with no fanfare..
She has had the temp GC since she arrived here 3 years ago,, ,,
but recieved her new 10 year? card last week, a few months after the interview..
for a timeline for folks going thru AOS..
Since she was coming on a I130 petition for alien relative,
-temp GC issued on arrival,(about two weeks after she arrived to be exact)
-24 months later we accurately applied for AOS in the 30 day window of oppurtunity.
-approx 30 days latter recieved notice that AOS application had been recieved/accepted for review.
-about 30 days later recieved the infamous yellow letter requesting GC be turned in ,
and soon therafter(2 weeks?) recieved the
"letter of authorization to travel,etc"
a form letter meant to act as your GC untill your AOS case is reviewed and approved ,or denied.
we did go to the branch office and have her passpoert stamped for travel as well. as the letter seems hokey at best and she did not want to have problems in ukraine when visiting home during this timeframe.
-about 4 months letter a request for more information, and the funny,, "but you have already provided all on the following list"
i replied with an ok then what do you want letter?
-about 2 months later another letter requesting the samne info, and again stateing that all of it had been supplied..
I replied a little more strernly demanding at the least an interview or end the foolishness of contradictory letters?
and a invitation for a BCIS official to come live with ius to make a good and informed decision of her AOS.
-30 days later a letter with interview date (about one month away)
-aprox 30 days later interview ,
-and a few months later to recieve the card.
almost exactly 3 years to the final AOS and card.
actually for all my complaints a fairly effiecent system considering the bulk of application they likely go thru.
and everyone we actually spoke with was always courteous and helpful..
the letters where silly and meaningless,
and even the staff when speaking with them directly had no real answers to why they were sent or wjhat thwey were intended to do?
in summary ,
overall from my filing in warsaw thru the embassy in kiev,, thru the
dealing with nebraska service center and then the local bracnh office in chicago.
.
it was a fairly routine experience.no surprises, no real difficulties, and the timelines as expected .
Also with our situation being straight foward,
easier to file correctly than a typical IRS short form.
