The Immigration and Nationality Directorate web site is badly maintained deliberately IMHO. 

The proposed new charges are extortionate

They publish this the day after this directorate proposes sending "big brother" type SMS's to the mobiles of people who havn't left the country by their visa end date!

Complete and utter stupidity !

It's outrageous .

It is just another stealth tax as they want to use the money to improve the immigration department.

I read the consultation doc and it only talks about people coming here to work, nothing about non-EU nationals married to British citizens.

For what good it will do, I sent an email of complaint to my local MP, unfortunately she is a right brown noser and always tows the party line.

My wife wants to travel to London at the end of the school year to visit an old g/f and classmate she graduated with.   With the hefty fee of $200.00 for a visa for citizens of the Russian Federation, this makes the UK one of the most, if not THE most, expensives visas anywhere.

A UK tourist visa is only £50, about $100, for Russian visitors.
