What's up with the tax info??
« on: April 05, 2007, 08:29:26 PM »
Now, I understand that governments love paperwork. But really, why the need for us to send our tax  documents to an embassy in another country?  They should have access to all of that electronically, I would think.  I'm not crazy about having my documents including SSN hanging around any foreign country.  I understand they will be in the lady's possession, but, accidents do happen.

Is there a logical reason why they need the paper rather than electronic?  Don't they verify the information electronically?  and if so, then why bother with the hard copies?  Seems with ID theft being at the forefront now, it should be a consideration.

Dave, Dave, Dave,

Silly, silly boy. Government + Logic do not mix! Go to your room now beat your head against the wall for an hour or so and you will be okay again.

They had me send all of that stuff to the NVC instead of to my wife to take with her to the embassy.  They also took the courtesy of billing me $70 for the privilege of looking at my tax info.  I guess I should be relieved that I didn't have to send it to Ukraine, though.  They  have some pretty creative computer nerds there and I can only imagine what they could do with that information.  On the other hand, it has slowed things down because they put the process on hold until I sent the $70, then they again put it on hold until I returned the Affidavit of Support documents to them, and then they again put it on hold until we sent the $380 processing fee to the NVC (again, I had thought that this was paid at the time of the interview).  Now it will be on hold until my wife returns the DS-230 part one to the NVC.  Only then will it be forwarded to the embassy in Kiev.  Not much left for those guys to do at that point but the interview.  For some reason everything else is being handled through the NVC in my case.  Not so easy or efficient when you live in Ukraine.  I think they should include a nice metal bat for the application fee.

I believe you can supply them with any  IRS returns and   that will do it.

That is absolutely the stupidest advice I've ever seen!

Yes, by all means send a fake tax return to the government during the immigration process. No need to worry about how this could impact the lady. Plenty more where she came from if she gets permanently banned from this country for immigration fraud. Won't bother you any either as you can just fake up some more documents and become someone else and start all over. May as well send them fake letters that you wrote to each other and Photoshopped pictures of you together. Wait! Why even bother to travel? Get a fake passport, visa, airline and hotel tickets too! Heck, you'll never have to leave your trailer park now to get a Smokinhotkova!

For AOS, they actually run it by IRS to see if the numbers match. I think the USC has more to worry about in this case than the alien. She can come visit you on Sundays at Club Fed. Maybe you and the new BF can become good friends.

LoL,  I have no intention to file false papers. Just wondered why it was necessary to bring in the hard copies of tax forms since they don't seem to keep them on file and we have the electronic capabilities to get the information.

Guess I need another hour on the wall...  :crackthewhip:

I don't fully know the process yet for sure.  I'm talking about her interview at the embassy.  It is my current understanding that a lady must take the man's financial information with her to her interview, but they don't keep it on file there in her country, or do they?

No- it is placed in the K file at the interview and then returned to the United States in the K visa package.

Thanks William3rd.  That's the piece of information I was  missing.  I thought the girl left the embassy with everything she walked in with, and then we "filed" the papers later here in America.  Makes sense now.

She does leave the consulate with everything that she came in with. In a sealed brown envelope that says do not open, do not pack in suitcase, and do not open. The I134 is inside. The packet then travels with her to the US and is handed to the first immigration officer that she sees who then takes it from her.
