Can someone tell me which American musicians are popular in Eastern Europe?

I want to send my fiance' some American music for her English class to listen to.

Depends on the girl / families musical taste.

Well even with my sclerotic brains:D I still know by heart

 Love Story     Andy Williams

Where do I begin
To tell the story of how great a love can be
The sweet love story that is older than the sea
The simple truth about the love she brings to me
Where do I start ....

:D

And this one (my future husband was a fan of "Queen" and I tried to seduce him with his lovely song :P He studied German at school and it took a lot of time from me to teach him how to sing) though it's not american but never mind

Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on yo' face
You big disgrace
Kickin' your can all over the place

We will we will rock you
Singin'
We will we will rock you
:dude:

And one more (Britain's too) for your girls to improve their English

Rent Pet Shop Boys

You dress me up, I'm your puppet
You buy me things, I love it

You bring me food, I need it
You give me love, I feed it

And look at the two of us in sympathy
With everything we see
I never want anything, it's easy
You buy whatever I need

But look at my hopes, look at my dreams
The currency we've spent
I love you, you pay my rent

You phone me in the evening on hearsay
And bought me caviar
You took me to a restaurant off Broadway
To tell me who you are
We never-ever argue, we never calculate
The currency we've spent
I love you, you pay my rent

:D:D

Yep:? This song is not american too but I can howl it almost like Darren Hayes does that (can't understand why everybody asks me to shut up in few seconds after I started to sing:(:D)

Darren Hayes "Insatiable"

When moonlight crawls along the street
Chasing away the summer heat
Footsteps outside somewhere below
The world revolves I let it go
We build our church above this street
We practice love between these sheets
The candy sweetness scent of you
It bathes my skin I'm stained by you
And all I have to do is hold you
There's a racing in my heart
I am barely touching you

Turn the lights down low
Take it off
Let me show
My love for you
Insatiable
Turn me on
Never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you
Insatiable

The moonlight plays upon your skin
A kiss that lingers takes me in
I fall asleep inside of you
There are no words
There's only truth
Breathe in Breathe out
There is no sound
We move together up and down
We levitate our bodies soar
Our feet don't even touch the floor
And nobody knows you like I do
The world doesn't understand
But I grow stronger in your hands

I sent her two cd's one by Eva Cassidy and the other Diana Krall.

Both are incredibly gifted singers with soulful voices, Diana Krall is a Grammy winner.

Eva Cassidy was from DC and died way too young at the age of 32.

I believe the lyrics will be easy to understand.

I am sure she will like those.   One of the disapointing things I have noticed was first the Music on MTV and second as I walked down Arabat street the push towards tatoos and piercing.   I am sure a lot of people look at those as positve moves, but I don't.

I can recall one gal I met in the usa though one of the dating sites sitting there with piercings everywhere, probalby 15 or 20 that I could see and I am sure there were lots more and one of her eyebrow ones was all infected, red and dripping puss as we ate.    That was my first and last meal with the gal.

If the goal was to learn her English then you should send a list with texts of those songs as well

Elen,

I'm hoping she will share the music with her English class and they can all listen together.

I'm not sure if writing down the lyrics would be cheating, like giving her the answers on a test.

Yep! It takes from me centures to understand what words singers pronounce (Sometimes it hard to do even on Russian):? Usually I lose my passion to understand them and find words in the Net or give up with my pity attempts to learn a song:?
