Before this thread went off on the Luba tangent, I found the discussion very interesting regarding your epic post. I think I will print that one and have it with me when I meet my RW in a couple of months. I will be curious to see if she displays many of the same behaviours. She lives off the beaten tourist path in Izhevsk (much like Omsk, I think) and possibly less influenced by western culture than RW's in Moscow or St. Pete perhaps. I may even send it to her for comment like I have a couple of articles that were discussed in this forum (The article about men seeking RW and the 1994 internet rant about RW that received much discussion (and laughter) in a couple of threads). We have shared a few email discussions regarding perceptions and prejudices on both sides.

Keep sharing the valuable experiences and insight.

Sculler: Thanks.  That always happens on a thread.  You have some good discussion, then people get a little sidetracked, or playful, and then get back to the discussion.  Just like chatting with friends in your home really.  Subjects always run a little... kinda cool actually.   Please, post your lady's thoughts if she doesn't mind.  I'd love to hear her and your impressions, contradictions.. anything you can add. 

Jazzy and Elen:  After being away for a day or two, I came back and read this thread again.  You both answered my questions honestly, but I was too busy trying to debate you that I actually missed the invaluable nuggets of information that you both added here.  I didn't miss them the second time through.  I should have *listened* rather than "scolding" you.  Point taken. I apologize.  Your answers explain some behavior I saw in Russia that I didn't understand, but now I do. 

Elen: Hmmmmmm, you handled this thread with me quite well.  When you saw I was debating and arguing, you simply started asking questions which changed my attitude from "debating" to "thinking".  Impressive.  You've opened my eyes in some very good ways.  I won't forget that.
