Question about Medical Exam for K-1 in Kiev
« on: April 06, 2005, 02:30:32 AM »
Does anyone remember whether a fiancee in Ukraine can have her medical exam performed at an approved clinic BEFORE she receives her Packets 3 and 4 from the US Embassy in Kiev?

Were there any forms or other documents in these packets that were necessary to present to the clinic performing the physical exam?  Or can a lady proceed to such an exam without such forms and documents?  Or, are such forms available for downloading from a web site?

As I recall, the medical exam is good for 1 year.  I also heard that some clinics used to provide 2 copies of the results (one for the Embassy, and one for the lady).  Is this generally true?

Thanks for the help.

My fiancee had her exam done a few weeks ago. She has not submitted packet 3 or 4. My lawyer filled out all packet 3 and 4 ahead of time and she has them with her. You can go to US embassy in Kiev web site and dowload packet 3 and 4. It should have the phone number your fiancee will need to call to set up appointment at 1 of 2 approved clinics in Kiev. You do not have to have packet 3 or 4 submitted in order to get medical exam. She will need to bring 2 passport photos with her, along with an official copy of her vaccinations. If possible have the vaccination record translated. She is not required to have all her vaccinations for K1 visa, but I would advise to have doctors at exam give her the vaccinations she does not have, because they only cost $10 each, and the vaccinations will be required for Adjustment of Status when she comes to America. The doctors there know exactly what vaccinations are required. The vaccination record will be all on one form which is valid for a year. When she get results of exam, they will be placed in a sealed envelope. She must not open this envelope as it will make exam invalid. She will be required to bring this sealed envelop to US embassy when it is her time for interview.

It seems to me that the exam is good for six months. Same as police record so be sure she has that to. I was there recently so we took a walk and familiarized her with the location of the clinic and the embassy. Both were easy to find. The clinic behind Mcdonalds and the metro is the Am. clinic and the exam will cost $100. The other clinic is $65 I believe.

I could be mistaken but I thought the medical exam was good for one year.

We have not received packet 3 yet or a date.   My gal has her exam scheduled for the 19th of May in Moscow.   We did that because I am flying in that day and she had to go to Moscow to meet me so we were sort killing two birds with one stone.   I am guessing her packet should arrive about that time or just a little before.   With it being good for a year there seemed to be no reason not to.
