Maintenance and NEW Features

Some of you may have noticed that the board went offline for approximately 30 minutes today. I had hoped there would be no downtime, but we had a brief outage during maintenance. I apologize for any inconvenience this caused anyone.

Maintenance is ongoing, and there is still the possibility there will be some additional temporary downtime, but I expect it to be very brief, if at all.

During maintenance, we managed to upgrade a number of features, as follows:

* Enhanced the calendar display.
* Added a NEW feature which allows users to PREVIEW messages by hovering your mouse over the message.
* Re-added the Personal Profile Fields.
* Added the YouTube icon for easier insertion of YouTube videos

I also added a new privacy feature which prevents visitors from seeing attachments to posts, such as photos. Now, only registered members may see ANY attachment to a post.

Unfortunately, we have lost the Member Map for the time-being - but I expect to have it restored, or an enhanced version, very soon.

Please let me know of any problems.

Dan, these last couple of days whenever I start a post using Quote, I am offered Quick Reply rather than the standard procedure. Is it only me ?

I just used the "Quote" option, and it provided me a full window (as normal). My bet is the Quick Reply is a setting in your individual profile - but I will do some digging and get back with a more complete answer.

Dan, don't bother, I turned the Quick Reply option to "Show, off by default" from "Show, on by default", and it's now back to normal. Strange, though, it never behaved like I told you before.

But it puzzles me to be considered a female now (see Her Country over my avatar ). Or is it for my female, though my Status: Looking ?

I think when I upgraded the core software, that particular configuration option was reset. I would imagine many members will report the same behavior.

To get it back to normal, go to: Profile - find 'Look and Layout Preferences' in the left frame - then scroll down near the bottom to the text which starts with "Use quick reply....." and select from the drop-down box, this option --> "don't show at all"

Yes, that is not gender-neutral. Alternative wording suggestions are welcome.

I'd say the "Her Country" option should be available for Committed/Married status only. The female members appear not to have that feature (discrimination ?). Maybe Partner's Country could be gender-neutral, or Partner From for length considerations.

 Is there a place to change the options in the "Status" numbers. Choices of Married 0-2 or 3-5 don't give me a place for us to fit in as we are married over 2 but less than 3 years.

 It's discrimination! First Sandro is a girl now the 2 to 3 year 'tweeners are ousted. I'm calling Al Sharpton! He'll make you pay for this criminal behavior!
