Thanks for asking Erwin.   You can read all about it.  It was somewhere between sucky and lousy.    I am still hoping to salvage the situation.  I am working today on more stuff for the embassy.

Turboguy -

I wonder, now that you're 'back in USA' and maybe had some time to relect on all of this: why/where do you think it all went wrong?  If you subtract the CO out of the equation, what would you have done differently?

The biggest thing i would have done would have been to grill her on some of the questions she might be asked.  I handed her a list I printed off visajourney and counted on her to ask me anything she did not know and the girl just does not aske questions very much.   I talked to her about two things they might ask that involved our engagement.   They did not ask either.

If I would have known they were going to make such a big issue out of phone calls I would have called here more and if nothing else she could have set the phone by the tv and I could have listened to Russian MTV so we had phone bills with some phone calls.   She does pretty good talking to me face to face but not on the phone.  I think there is both more pressure and more static.

I might also have done more snail mail   We only had 4 snail mail letters total.  There just wasn't a need.

Mostly 5 or 10 minutes of grilling her and I would be somewhere with her now and not sitting home alone on my computer.  Actaully I am wallpapering the bedroom and on the computer when I need a break.

I think I may not have been so re-assuring.  i don't like her to worry.   When I kept telling her it would be a piece of cake and not to worry perhaps if I would have said "Well darling it should be ok but you need to be really ready or you won't get it.  They can be pretty tough and you need to know things and to work to get this."

Turboguy,

Where can I find the list (presumably the list of interview questions) on the visajourney?

Do you have the link?

Thanks,

E

Try this Erwin.  This is proably a little better list than I had.
