SS card

I'm completely frustrated. After spending 45 minutes on hold with the SSA; their person could not tell me specifically what documents my fiancee will need to make application for a SSN or if she even could before we get married nor how long we can expect to wait for a card to get issued once application is made. Anybody know this one?

She'll need her passport + I-94 card (which will be stapled into her passport when she passes through her POE). You don't have to wait until you get married, although when you get married she'll have to go back to the SSA to change her name and they'll probably tell her (as they did my wife) to wait until she has her green card in order to change it.

Usually a week or two after you apply, provided they entered all her data in correctly at her POE. Be sure to wait 2 weeks or so after she arrives before applying so that this data will have propogated to the SSA system.
