Web site rip off
« on: September 10, 2007, 11:31:39 AM »
I am in a quandary. I put up a profile on www.foreignladies.com. I received a lot of email and I found some ladies I wanted to communicate with.

Well, I always write to someone who can speak English. In the above site, I requested what information I could not send. Well, everything. I can't even get a postal address sent to me or from me.

I got a reply email saying they interpret the letters and it's only for people who seriously want to meet someone.

Tell me, isn't this a scam? How the hell can you know about who you are writing to and how can you "BECOME" serious with someone if you can't get direct contact? How can you plan things if you can't speak on the phone, send a letter or gift and have the woman checked out?
Hell, even the rip off Anastasia web lets you send postal addresses or you can "buy" one.

Half the time on Anastasia, after receiving a letter, the girl told me she didn't send it. The agency did.

Buyer beware.

After you take the poll list the site that ripped you off or tried to.
Also include the $ amount.

Jgyro, my view is that all these web sites are out to make money! does it make them all a scam but? Most of them will make you exchange e-mails for a while before personal info can be exchanged. I had previously written in the forum that I had spent several hundred dollars on e-mails (love me.com) and was worried about why "she" would not give me her number. It was only after our first meeting that she told me that she had never been told that I was asking for her number, most of the time her mail was read over the phone to her, and her replies copied back to me. Some on the forum (the more FSU savvy) will tell you to avoid the web sites, except for the free ones, but my view is that some times you have to take a gamble.
I took the hit, and boy!! was it worth it!
I had their interpretor for the first hour only when I met my lady in Kherson, she explained that that is the normal protocol for at least three agencies she works for!

not a scam but certainly a rip off.

BTW- foreignladies.com is a front for loveme.com. At $7.50 a letter, I think it is a total rip off. They seem to use IMBRA as a shield to prevent giving out contact information until you sign up for a "tour."

Their homepage says "Free Translations" to get people to sign up. I guess one needs to read the small print too.

jgyro, quit that agency. I don't mind agencies making money as long as they let men and women pursue their goal of getting hooked up without all kinds of barriers.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

For all this sites it is all about making money!! And if they send letters on the behalf of the girls (usually letters written by the staff and not by the girl), then I would say that it is a SCAM!!

You could tink that sending letters on behalf of the girls is a scam. And in many cases it leads to it.
On the other hand, in many cases the women do not know English a lot. The 'middle agency' that puts up their profile on the big sites has made a commitment to find interesting guys, and to weed out the idiots they might first send one or two generic letters before having the woman reading and starting the real connection work.

Looking at this from the 'other' side they might be doing the women a service. The problem with this is that when money is short, the system invites the agency to keep up some correspondence without the woman knowing about it. In other words, to make money they scam. If such a scam comes out, often the women are getting the blame and reported on the internet. In reality it could have been the agency owner, and employee or the translator who is the one to blame.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)
