Forgot how difficult this can be...
« on: August 19, 2007, 01:11:04 AM »
Well, I've be "actively"  back in the game for about 25 days now...

I have to say, that I forgot how hard it is to do this sometimes. First you have 2 people on opposite ends of the earth, weeding out potential candidates. Then you pick some and try and initiate some communication, they may or may not understand you.. so you are probably waiting for a friend or other person to translate your letter.. or it could be YOU were weeded out, but just not  bothered to be told.. Or it could be that they are just too busy with other letters and haven't gotten around to you yet. Or any of a million other snafus.

It's really amazing I did it the first time !

I think I do this a bit different than some. I genuinely find people I am interested in contacting, rather than just speed mailing all the "hotties" I can find. I suppose increasing my numbers would increase my success rate, but unless I make some kind of "form letter".. it would sure eat up the time.. and that just seems too shallow of an approach for me. Besides I am in no particular hurry, I'll take quality over quantity any day.

Not sure what you call my "group" here.. but I don't use an agency. Don't have anything against them, they work obviously. I use a "friend-finder" type site (It's not friend-finder or match.com btw). My reason for this is, first, it worked for me before.. but second, because I like the greater scope. I could just as easily meet someone from Latvia, Germany, Ukraine, Russia,.. wherever.. These type of sites have their drawbacks (some of which are mentioned above), and I know an agency would probably beat them all to heck in many respects..  but this is what I am going with for now.

Despite the difficulties (and perhaps because of them) I am more determined than ever. I can be stubborn, but I am not stupid (is any Gemini ?) and I'll change my tactics if I feel it's not working.. I just haven't gotten there yet. There's no real question to ask in this post. I guess it's a matter of sharing a little more of the puzzle that is.. "me"  :)

Only 1 avatar has been harmed in the making of this post.. and in my defense.., avatar torture is a "grey area" and has only been used in this case to extract information.. and besides, isn't golf just self induced torture anyway ?

Good luck on your new search. As for writing I used the same approach. Writing only those I felt I could have an interest in.
If you have any questions, you know the right place to get the answers.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)
