All is VERY well... just a quick update...
« on: October 05, 2007, 01:01:00 PM »
Ok all.

Me and Elena have been together over a month here in the USA.  All is very well.  We have grown even closer since her arrival and we both commented this was a surprise how well we get along.

Elena enjoys life here in the USA very much.  She does miss her family of course - but has no desire to move back to Russia.

So in our first month we have seen/done:  NYC, Venice Beach, Big Bear Mountains (During a forest fire), Adirondack Mountains, A couple Harley rallies, and a bit of time camping and boating.

Home life is very nice and we are completely comfortable at all times.

We found a (free) adult learning center program and she attends ESL classes 9-12 hours a week.  Elena is very smart and her English has gone from about a 4 to a 6/7 on a scale of 1-10 in only a month.

Well...  that's that for now.  Time for us to take a little nap before our next adventure for THIS weekend.   Another bike rally/pig roast we're putting on.

Our wedding is planned for 11/24 - which is as long as we can wait.  We wanted to give as much time for her family and friends to get visas as possible.  Wedding planning has been our only single source of (minor) frustration.  It would be nice if they gave us 6 months to get married instead of the 3 months currently.  It's a lot of planning to be done in short order.

I do stop by and read here a little bit here and there.  I wish you all the best.  ;)
Back to having fun in life!

It is always nice to hear that a couple are doing well and especially nice when it is a good guy like you.  This takes a lot of effort to make it all happen but hopefully most find it is the best thing they ever did in their life and I think the struggles we go though make us appreciate what we have even more.   Keep us posted.

glad to hear all is well and home life is good.  Same here, Marina adapting to countryside and fresh air better than I thought.   Good luck with your wedding plans. It was good to hear your update. -jj
