Mattock...listen to me.

Forget this idea.

DO NOT search for a girl in the FSU.

Why?  Because you wrote:
I dont have the money to get burned haha.

That is a red flag to me for two reasons:

1)  It costs a fortune to romance and marry an FSU woman.  It will cost 3 to 5 thousand dollars per trip to search.  You'll have even more cost when you become engaged.  And that is just the beginning.  When she gets to your country, she will need new clothes. Your house will have to be redone.  You will spend perhaps $10,000 on dental and other medical problems.

2) A newbie has a great chance of being burned by scammers.  By the time you learn how to avoid scammers, you will have spent tons of money.

So, don't do this if money is a concern.  You have just been divorced a year.  Take time to get over it.  Date women where you are.

Mattack,

You might feel the message in Simoni's post was a bit harsh but the sentiments are correct.

It's expensive... very expensive...  and there's only two ways to fund it.

1. A very good income, or;

2. Savings that you are prepared to commit to the process of marrying a FSUW.

jb produced a great document on the costs of this pursuit and I think you can find it in the wiki (maybe someone else knows exactly where it is).

I was fortunate in my search because I got great advice here.  I wasn't scammed and I didn't waste any trips.  I would have originally preferred to take more than two trips but as things worked out for me I only spent limited face to face time in UKR before popping the big question.  That increases my risks but I am certain My Girl is a wonderful match for me.

In two trips, visa applications and misc costs (the first trip contained a fair holiday component though) my costs are sitting at about AUS$25,000 and I reckon we've got at least another $10k to go with the wedding/spouse visa/etc before the end of the year.

My Girl has perfect teeth and good health so they haven't been issues yet, but there are more costs coming.  Second car, clothes, holidays in Oz, family visits, etc all add up.  We'll rent my apartment out too in the new year and buy a house with "a big garden" so only God knows what we're up for there.

It's NOT inexpensive...  it's very much the opposite...  but if you can weather the storm the rewards are quite simply WONDERFUL!

I think you should not look for FSU woman not only cos of money reason

Cos you are writing things like( oi am just looking for a puppy any help will be appreciated ),like it is so easy to find somebody , you are not interested you are not ready for cultural differences , you have no idea how difficult and hard it is , I think you are simply just upset and depressed with your recent divorce , you will find american woman in 2 secs after you are ok after your divorce

you are not ready for compromise and you are not ready for russians believe me, you  do not wanna go there as it is a lot of personal work  on your personality and your habits

are you ready to sacrifice things for russian woman ? of course not

so leave the idea

but of course you are welcome to participate in our wonderful forum , am sure you will find a lot of palls :)

I have to agree with the others,

Why don't you read a couple hundred posts, the FAQ's and every single trip report.
Most likely you will see how difficult and expensive this can be. If you still want TRY this,
then
SAVE (like the depression will be tomorrow),
PLAN (like you are going to take over the world)
RESEARCH(like you had to find the cure for your own cancer)
GET YOUR GAME TOGETHER that means lose the extra pounds, learn some Russian, etc

Once you got enough pennies together to make THREE TRIPS then start the process.

Do all this and you could still fail, but don't do all this and you surely will

I still agree with the others,

Good luck

Yes, Kuna is indeed correct... the rewards are quite wonderful.

Then again, not all men are successful, and the successful outcomes cost big bucks.
