Well, fellas, 28 days and  and counting for my WOVO with Tanya. I called her from my office today and we had the stereo on loud as hell in the back ground. Of course she thought I was calling from a nightclub, on the prowl for women! ( At noon my time?????) Anyway, a very fast email came to me telling me the uusal "I love yous" and a worrying" I am your only one, right....- I hope..." I called her back and reassured her that yes ( for now, anyway ) she is it.  I like the jealousy, bit of a change from the last AW . Anyhoo, time she be a draggin on. Weekend here, lots to do with the kids, gym, etc. Damdest thing- Ill know in a nanosecond if I like her ( and vice versa!) Butterfly ( in my gut) City!

Like I told the guy in Yalta, letters and phone calls before the first meeting are nothing more than makeup to the woman.  They are the tools necessary to get the guy to come over, nothing more. 

The first woman I met in Siberia told me that she loved me before we met.  After we met, she turned into cold fish.  (I guess she didn't love me so much after all.)  I'm not saying that you will have the same experience, but it is important for you to get in your head that the relationship starts after the first meeting, not until then.

Absolutely right. In fact, I may go EXPECTING things to go asunder, and that is why I have a backup plan. By the way, any of you guys  have any experience with the Polena Marriage Agency in Sumy? Lotta nice ladies, some look a little too nice, if you know what I mean. Cheers!

It will be completely different than you have imagined. It may be much better or much worse. I will never forget the first time I met Anna... we did not kiss but I was so excited to see her.. she was finally a real person... now I hate to think what my life would be if I not met her... 28 more day until my next trip.

My wife lives in Sumy and at one time was listed on Polenas agency.  BY the way the owners name is Elena.  Although I didn't find my Lena at this agency they operate pretty much like a lot of other in that they will try to convience a girl to go out with a guy a second time even if she really thinks he's a loser so that they can get another dating fee.

So what do you want to know about Sumy?

Well, the Polena Agency is my only backup. My UKR buddy suggested I go to love.ru and find a bunch of women ( for free) in Sumy and ask for phone numbers alleging a "business trip" and "maybe I can call..." B.S! These women know why we are ( generally) here. And, I DON'T want to risk any of them knowing Tanya. But the Agency seems shady, according to you guys. I emailed them a few days ago and no response. Wonder why???? Anyway, lets just wait and see....

Hopefully your Sumy woman will be fine.  If, howver, you fail to click, do not stay in Sumy.  Return to Kiev.   More to do there, more women, and reputable agencies.

Call Kiev Connections before you return to Kiev.  They will arrange an apartment, dates and everything (for a fee of course).  Two years ago they charged me $25 per date.

Sumy- any interesting restaurants and live music there? I don't mean the electronic garbage that most of these Russian discos spew out. I'm talking about some live music and maybe even karaoke...! Also, how about shopping? Any information will do, actually

I know nothing about Sumy, but good restaurants in Moscow have interesting live music. The Muscovites demand it.

You could get on ICQ (www.icq.com) and do a search for women that speak English in Sumy.  Find a few that are online and chat with them.  At the very least, you can probably find some good restaurants and entertainment venues in Sumy in advance of your trip.

Something to realize about Sumy is that for Ukraine it is a small city 300k.  Also it is kind of like at the end of a dead end road other cities its size or larger are South and East (Poltava, Kharkov)  So there isn't a ton to do there.  A couple of nice resturants over by the the River Sol, I'll have to ask Lena their names as I don't remember.  And there are a couple of clubs though probably not with live music.  Lena and I live a pretty quiet life when we're there so I haven't been out to the clubs much.  I'll ask her some names also there are some smaller agencies in Sumy that the search engines don't pick up.  Since they're no as big they aren't considerd as serious as Polena agency.

As far as shopping if you are thinking about something that even comes close to an American mall you can forget it.  Sumy has several buildings that have been converted into small shops all within about a block or two of eachother.  OF course there is always the central market which is outside an fairly interesting to see the different wares of the sellers.  That's where I bought my dads fur hat. A nice leather jacket can be had for $200 though prices are increasing.

There are a couple of nice cafes in the center within about a block and a half of eachother with great cakes and pastries to have with afternoon tea.  By the way afternoon tea is kind of a tradition so you can see girls and possibly meet them there.

Now as far as agency girls go, and this from Lenas own experience. 75% or more are not serious about necessarily finding a husband.  Doesn't mean they are pro-daters or scammers either just that they may not be seriously looking and have listed themselves for a bit of adventure.  However there is no accounting for chemistry.

If you want backup plans I would recomend moving on to Poltava and then Kharkov or Dnepropetrovsk.  Thing is if you are in a smaller town you are abigger deal as less foreigners go there and so the curiosity factor is higher.  If you want more things to do Dnepropetrovsk would be better than Kharkov though I know a guy whose wife owns a small agency in Kharkov.  And met a guy from the states who met his wife through that agency.  Of course if you really want to attract some attention you could hire yourself a driver and interpretor and head out for some of the outlying villages and take a look around.  The girls won't be so dolled up as in the cities but still some very nice looking women just unlikely that you will find one that speaks English.  Good luck
