Another way to meet RW

Something to keep in mind, there are often local groups and events where you have a good chance to meet RW. A perfect case in point are concerts. I recently went to see Mumiy Troll. They are a very popular (previously extremely popular) Russian group. They are doing a tour currently in the US and will be back in Europe later this year.

I recently attended a concert and the number of very attractive Russian women there made me feel like I was back in Ukraine. For a few hours I easily could have been in Moscow/Kiev/Dnepro/Peter/etc. It made me "homesick" for Ukraine and all my friends I had just left.

So check out the concerts in your area. Mumiy Troll is a very good band to see if they come to your area. They range from alternative to pop to a little heavy metal all in one show. Very good lyrics and it isn't that difficult to understand the Russian of the lead singer Ilia. Of course there are other Russian groups to see as well that come to Europe or the US.

So at the very least get out and see an interesting concert. I spent a whopping $10 on a ticket for one of the most fun evenings I've had in a long time. Even factoring in parking and buying a drink for a friend. I might have spent $30-40 on the night. I connected up with a few good Russian friends and enjoyed a great show.

Great advice!  We just had his concert in the Twin Cities. 

Another tip: check for local groups on www.meetup.com There are Russian groups all over US, join them and attend the meetings. 

If you know a little Russian, enough to fill out a profile, register on this free site: http://love.rambler.ru/  and search for the city you reside in or close to in the US.  You can contact and write in English later.  Just another chance to meet a Russian locally in the US.

Hey Mark.. I see you are in SF also... I forget the name of the club on Clement, but, they have Russian bands there all the time.. all one has to do to meet Russians in SF is hang out in the middle aves on Clement and Geary.. they are all over the place.. They go to Marakesh downtown a lot oalso because there is a Russian DJ and there are hookas...

 I met my fiance there but she lives in Russia.
