Hello Again Jet.

I appreciate the information on the medical facility and the hotels and I will make sure my Russian lady goes to this one. I have a question would it be possible to give you a quick call tomorrow during the day or evening and ask you some more questions? I ask because I can talk much more instead of writting. if it s OK with you , I d really appreciate it very much since you have been there.

Thanks

Salsauno,

I advice you to ask at Dan for remove your phone number from your post... some bad people can use it ... when you have sensible information to send at someone like real address or phone, make it by PM... personal message via these forum...

Some business use robot for scam the net and collect phone number, e-mail address, address... and they use it for send publicity...

Hello Bruno.

How are you. Thanks for the info.  You are correct , however at the same time this phone number is safe. Lots of unwanted people have tried to call in the past and never got no where with it. If an unwamted person calls they they would get a surprise. However your concern is always welcome.

Thanks

Yep.. remember that place.. whatta mess.

Luckily just needed the free to marry affidavit.

We'll be applying for a tourist visa for my wife in the next few weeks here in Italy for a visit to the US towards the end of the year.. wonder how that will work out.

I have to say it makes me very nervous looking at that picture and knowing that 20 days from now I will be pacing up and down in that area with my fingers crossed and feeling like I should either take up smoking again or get drunk.

Turbo,

I saw a guy screaming in there through bulletproof glass before being kindly 'escorted' out with 'kid gloves'.

Don't worry though it was just a guy that did not know anything at all about INS (at that time) and thought he could just get a visa and bring his girl home with him.

Yep there are all kinds..

Well either way you want to go, there's a little coffee shop/bar with ciggerettes just a wee bit to the right of where this picture was taken from :D.

Your experience may be different but Liliya was back outside with the good news in about an hour and a half, so it wasn't too agonizing a wait (it usually takes her longer to clear passport control stateside these days than the whole interview took)

Thanks Jet,  The coffee may help.  I will try to keep my willpower up on the others even if I might feel like giving in.

I have been surprised at the small number of guys who try to be there when their gals have thier interview.   Even if you can't go in I sorta feel like a father who goes in to the delivery room when his babies are born.  I just sorta want to be there to support my gal.   I am not saying this to be critical of anyone at all, I am just casually menioning it because I ecpected something different.   I realize that vacation time and budgetary concerns both come into play for a lot of people.   I will really be glad when this is all over or I will be if it goes ok.

If it was at all practical, I would be there, but it isn't.  In my case, I'm expecting (6 month guess) her Evia's interview to be in late October.  I only have 8 vacation days left.  I'd burn 4 getting there and back, and perhaps 2-3 for a short stay in Moscow.  I would have the advantage of being able to fly home with her, but I would only have 1-2 days left to spend dedicated to her and her daughter to get them settled in.

I have to believe that taking those 8 days, flying to her port of entry, and flying the last leg back with her (same day travel for me), and then having 7 vacation days (a week and a half) to help settle them in is a much better, if less romantic, way to spend the time.

If for some horrible reason her interview isn't until January, when I get my 20 days posted, then it will be a different story - I'll take 2 weeks off and do both.

Kevin

There does seem to be a lot of people who do it that way Goombah, meet their gal at the port of entry and fly back with them.   I would say that about 75% - 80% seem to do that and 10-15 % go to the interview city.  I guess that is one of the things about having your own business that spoils you.  If I feel like having 365 vacation days a year I can.  Of course I may not have a business left but there is no one to tell me I can't do it.   Hope your time passes quickly.

Photocopies to USCIS (BCIS, INS, whatever the hell they call themselves this week) Originals available for inspection at the Embassy.

Good luck to both you guys and your ladies ;)

Jet is right Salsauno,   You need to have an original of your Birth certificate and any divorce decrees with your gal at the interview.   If you don't have either of these you can get a certified copy at your courthouse for a few bucks.
