I sent a package by DHL on Monday and it should have been delivered on Friday.

When I track it online it is saying it left the US arrived in Brussells and arrived in Kiev on Thursday and is now in transit since June 16.

What gives? Shouldn't it have arrived by now if it was 4 business day mailing?

Is DHL dependable in Ukraine?

The package is likely delayed in customs for a few days. Whenever I send a package to Ukraine via fed ex, there is always a 2 day delay once it gets to Kiev.

Hey Clyde

My experiences with DHL is that it arrives to Kiev in the 4 day time frame. Once in Kiev it will take about 2-4 business days. This weekend and the first part of next week are holidays. I think it is called "Trinity."

If you lady lives in a smaller city the local "DHL" office will call her when it arrives. There is no such thing as overnight in Ukraine IMHO. It took DHL 4 days to deliver the K-1 Visa from Kiev to Nikolaev.

Clyde, I would just chill and it will get there some time next week.

Well, she has to have this package for her interview and she leaves Simferopol for Kiev on June 27th. So there are 5 business days remaining.

This was a DHL 4 business day delivery and it is a contractual thing between DHL and me, not relating to Kiev customs regulations. DHL told me it was scheduled for delivery last Friday.

I hope the Kiev postal service does not think they can to rewrite the contract between DHL and it's customers.

In my opinion 4 days means 4 days. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, DHL does not count it as a business day. I'm not sure about international holidays. I'll find out when I phone DHL tomorrow.

Thanks for the information. I still have 5 days.

Clyde, all bets are off on any such delivery promises once a package enters the FSU.  Just count yourself lucky if the package arrives at all.

The one thing in your favor is that it is not Ukraine postal service, but an actual private company. DHL, Fed Ex, all have the same standards, and if they do not deliver packages on time, the supervisors over there suffer the same fate as the ones here. Too many late arrivals = loss of job. Once these packages arrive in Kiev, they sometime truck them to the smaller cities, sometimes they fly them. It has always taken at least 7 to 10 days for my package to get from US to my fiance when I send Fed Ex. It always gets there, but not by the time they tell me. Generally you can get a refund if it does not reach the destination by a certain time, but if it goes international, they put that customs delay clause in it.

Sorry, I forgot about the recent holiday in Ukraine.

The package moved to Odessa today and she has made arrangements to pick it up.

Before I started sending packages to Ukraine I did some research and found that Fed-Ex and UPS don't have as many satellite facilities as DHL... DHL has a satellite facility in the city I send to. I have sent packages to Mariupol and everyone has arrived the day DHL said they would! Which actually was two business days!!! I send from Florida, USA. Of course I do take care as to not send anything that would get caught up in customs...
