Russian Police Report

Hi Guys,

Regarding police reports again, I know the web site says they can be up to a year old. Has anyone heard of or experienced the embassy rejecting a police report? Do you know why?

Marina said she called the police and they said she could get this next week. My two concerns are that she get the correct report and that it is not too old when she gets to the Embassy. We still have 74 days until her interview. She is worried because someone told her this document cannot be more than a month old.


I'd hate for her to have to take that 32 hour round trip train ride home just to get another police report

I think you will be ok.   Although you are allowed a year I think it is better to be absolute max of 6 months to avoid problems.   Sometimes they take longer than you expect so it is better not to wait till the last minute.   I think Luda had to go back for hers a couple of times.

Thank you, but could you clarify? Go back a couple of times? Obviously this must have happened before her interview as she only had the one correct? So I assume she got her report and somehow figured out it was not good or she got a couple of them far too early? You got me curious now?

BTW Any word from Moscow. Did you call the State Dept for advice?

1 year is fine. Most visa sites and the info from immigration site says this to. If you feel unsure, do it again. Go to police. pay a few dollars more and get it the same day. Remember it needs to be translated and notarized.
