The point Mischief is making, and I agree with it, is broadly this, a successful lady doctor, lawyer or whatever from Russia and in particular the bigger locations, AIN'T gunna track half way around the world to "Shack up" in some backwoods trailer park with a no account, UNLESS, she has some ulterior motive.

Please spare me a list of the exceptions, because they are just that, exceptions.

What does make me smile from time to time is the way so many guys paint their lady. Sure it is nice to be proud, but it has it's limits. Reading some of the "wife" or "GF" descriptions, one could be forgiven for thinking these guys had stolen the richest princess from the highest castle. The reality is, most of our wives are ordinary women with something special that attracted our attention. The difference between these women and the average, is largely, they have a bolder sense of adventure, a little more courage and perhaps a little more ambition.

Hmm, sounds like a non-desperate woman to me.  One with options.  One you might have to actually woo into a relationship.  Nah, we cannot have any of that now!

Well, I hear you here, but in our own minds each and every one of our wives is special to us individually..  And in our case (your's and mine) we can be thankful for their faulty eyesight to accept our ugly azzes as their husbands!

KenC, that's a "Given" and rightly so. Be pretty sad if we didn't think so, but my point is relating to some of the BS I read, about how she is this, she had that, she was this and blah blah blah. Mischief's point (A good one) kinda shines the spotlight on this in a way. Some guy comes out spouting the virtues of his wife's former life as if she was next in line for the throne of her country and he is doing this from little better than a trailer park basis. BS there somewhere very often.

Actually I/O in the past unlike here Doctors, Lawyers and Teachers in the FSU have been considered a rather low profession.   They were careers with very poor incomes.   It does seem to be starting to change a bit.   I am sure there are some doctors in the FSU who hear about the income of doctors in other parts of the world and don't realize how hard it is to practice their profession in America and are quite eager to track half way around the world.   When I was in the searching stage I saw so many women doctors that were listed and were writing to me I wondered if there would be any women doctors left in the FSU.  (probably only the ugly ones)

I had one friend who had doctors on his highest priority and considered them his 401-K.  I don't think he realized what was involved.  Personally I had them on my avoid list because it is such a demanding field.

Oh, and in your last post with all the arses for someone to choose from you forgot this one in case someone likes it.

My wife is a Muscovite. I didn't go looking for one, that's just how it turned out.

I expect you can find good, sincere (sophisticated, elegant, stylish, cultured, intelligent, [insert your adjective of choice]) women with plenty of options in any city in the FSU. I expect you can find insincere women desperate for a green card and improved financial prospects in any city in the FSU. A certain category of men will tend to wind up with a certain category of women, no matter where they look.

That said, I don't think this recurring debate would be one, except for the "conventional wisdom" that men should avoid the big cities. Indeed, I think the men who would heed this kind of "wisdom" are likely to be in that unfortunate category of men mentioned above.

One caveat (IMO): "Westernized" is good. Unless you plan to live in the FSU.
