OK, here's what the BCIS agent I visited with last night told me.  It seems the BCIS sets aside large blocks of work and business visas which will not be issued to new applicants.  Even if these visas are listed as available, but not issued, they are being held in reserve for companies they know will be needing them.  This is especially true for people like foreign airline pilots and crews which routinely enter the USA as they conduct their business. Thus, large blocks of these visas are held back and are not intended to be issued to the casual applicant.

In the case of the foreign registered ship I was working last night, the crewmen hold one type of visa, (which allows them to go ashore to have a beer), while the captain and other officers hold business visas which allow them to go ashore and do business with owners, cargo agents, suppliers, and other related ship's business.   This shipping company has a number of "set aside" visas in reserve.  Since there is a relatively high turnover of crews, the visas are not issued until a new man actually signs on.

As far as requesting a work or business visa goes, the BCIS  agent told me the odds of getting one are slim these days.  The applicant would have to be very special, and very well qualified in a special field, in order to receive consideration for a visa if you are not a company that has a track record with non-immigrant workers who haven't overstayed a visa in the past.  All of these issues are taken into consideration with each new applicant.

There you have it, pick it apart if you wish, but I gather from talking to this man that the pool of available visas, and different methods of legally entering the USA, is shrinking rapidily.  For the average American man looking for a wife, the best bet is still the good old K1/K2/K3/K4, which we all know and love so well.

Thank for the info JB...

It seem that USA close more and more the legal way for visit USA... but i fear that this cannot stop the flow of illegal people...

Seriously, the K serie is not a easy way too... and unfortunaly, several use it like test periode...

Getting a K-1 visa approved is really very easy, not hard at all.  Almost all K-1 applications are approved within 6 months of filing.  It's just a matter of filling in the blanks on a form and submitting the fee.

Yes,,, it is often used as a "trial marriage", to see if the woman will actually fit into a man's lifestyle.  These people are not in love with each other, they are simply in lust,,, him for her hot young body,, her for his wallet.  This happens because very many of the applicants are only able to muster the price of one airfare for travel to the FSU.  The "one week wonders" are legend among these boards.  Some make a go of it, and many fail.  Most of the failures are never heard from again, they slink like a whipped dog, with tail tucked between their legs, into obscurity.

Illegal immigration is another story altogether.

Bruno,

Having done a Euro K3 and US visitors visa, the documentation requirements are not that much different than those described for a US K1. The K1 forms are a bit more complex but basic documentation (the tough part) requirements are very similar.

Differences:

Time.. US K1 min 6 months, Euro K3 3 weeks.

Interview.. US yes, EU no but does require a personal visit to the consulate in RU where they usually ask a couple of simple questions like "how's the weather outside"

Medical.. US yes, EU with socialized medicine no.

Just my experience..  I'm sure you can find some differences within EU but spare me the details :D:D

I still want to know if Lawman65 has actually met this woman  in her hometown.  If he really knows her that will make a big difference in the answers we can conjure up, if not, it's prolly just another scam.

I find it strange that someone starts a thread and then never shows up to check in on it.  I've looked and Lawman hasn't shown neither hide nor hair since he asked the question days ago.

[/quote]First, JB-thanks for the recon from the BCIS agent...

Now, about the K-1 ...

It's not all that simple....complicated forms and the K-1 application is returned to you for ANY mistake...  Plus, for the K-1, you have to KNOW the girl and have pictures together to prove your relationship.  And more--if you read Turbo's posts about the process on the Russian end.

I had a friend in Philly bring his girl over in June.  It took EIGHT months to get the K-1.

And..guess what?  He didn't like the girl and now has to do it all over again!  I still say it's better to spend time with the girl in Eastern Europe...

Forget the K-1 and Business visa for dating....only try to bring a girl here if you are  POSITIVE about marriage...

Where's Lawman?

The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.  michelangelo

Agree... several people here ask help but they don't give all the data or don't reply to question... How it is possible give good advice to someone when we know only the up part of the iceberg... perfect for make a long topic but bad for the right reply...

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the info, sorry I have not replied is because I am at New Mexico Tech attending a training course. I have read your comments and really do thank you. I have not traveled to Odessa yet, but plan on being there sometime in April , 2006.  I know a few ladies there and in Kherson, and will make my rounds. It's just that one of them wants to visit me here, and I do not have to pay for anything...sounds good to me. It's just that I figured it would be easier now that the visa laws have laxed some. I guess not from reading your comments. Lawman65
