Very interesting. Of course, the ROC is the "one true church".
So this is perfectly understandable, necessary and justified.

I'm bumping this up b/c the posted comments to this
article (on the NYT site) are just too interesting and informative to be passed up.   Take a look at what all the Russian posters are
saying about the article, the ROC and their country.

Considering the mix of religion and politics, the page count in this thread should already be in the multi digits.

Don't forget though that other western governments do not simply recognize any form of organization that calls themselves a religion.

Take for example Germany and Scientology..  I am sure there are others, even some in the US that seek freedom from taxation.
