Why? As an experiment, I would take one woman from Elena's Models and try to find her on the free sites. I would invariably find her.

Seriously, I think the longer women are on the dating site scene, the more sites they learn of.. and YEP, they'll be found in more places.

Quite simple. Find women from small cities on EM. Then do a search for women on singles.ru for the small city. Eventually, I always found the woman. You can try with the big cities, but because there would be hundred of thousands of women, you will be looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. Doesn't mean they are not there, just that they are harder to find.

 I was aware of the singles.ru, dating.ru and most of the localised sites..but as I'm not looking now, may be what you say applies, now - two years and a lot can change...

Veta joined vkontake.ru ( her son invited her - it's a Russian lang. facebook/ myspace equiv. ) and this was only 2.5 months ago - there was 8 million users registered then - now there's over 13 million - may be THIS is the place to look, now.

Vkontakte is the Russian facebook. I believe, however, that you have to ask someone's permission to become friends. You also have odnoklassniki and moy mir with mail.ru which are also very popular social networking sites. You could use these sites to find someone, but like facebook and myspace, you won't know who is looking. My guess is that most Russian women will use all of them: she will have a profile on a dating site, a profile on vkontakte as well as a profile on an agency site.

I'm a member of vkontakte - and it amazed me how many members allow you to see a lot of data about them, all their photos and even see their friends !

My Wife's kid invited me to be a friend, after I browsed his profile and I'm STILL learning the ropes, but *he* reckoned he *knew* I'd viewed his profile... I don't know if he is BSing me 

I thought it was a young 'un site, but Veta assures me that there's 800,000+ 30-40 yr olds who are members .... I didn't ask how many over forty.. in case it's ME
