Making a Living in Nikolaev
« on: June 27, 2008, 01:07:06 AM »
Up until six months ago I coached men for free.  I moved to Nikolaev 8 months ago.  I have been communicating with women overseas for three years now.  Prior to moving to Nikolaev to spend more time with my sweetheart Larisa, I lived in California since I was born there, 55 years ago.  Larisa and I found each other on the Internet in December 2006 just after I returned from Saint Petersburg, Russia.  I went there to meet a woman I had communicated with for 5 months.  I have a basic theory about knowledge. It's worthless unless we share it with others.
In the past three years, I have written and received thousands of letters.  As anyone knows, making a living in the Ukraine is not easy.  I work teaching English at a language school I helped to open just 5 months ago.  Larisa and I work together daily often from 8 in the morning; we rarely go home before 10 at night six days a week.
When we started charging a small fee to some of the men who needed information, we eliminated the men who weren't serious while we were able to concentrate on the men who truly needed some help.  At least we have food on the table and are able to pay our rent.  We still offer advice to men from around the world and have helped many men with problems of all sorts.
Now you know what we do and why.  We don't do it for the money.  We just know how difficult searching for someone to love can be.

I'm sorry Bill, I for one, have no idea what you're saying here. What are you coaching men in?  Basketball?  Are you holding yourself out as an expert in AM/UW relations when, by my count, your first trip to FSU was 1.5 years ago?

You say Larisa is your "sweetheart".  What does that mean?  She's not your fiancee?  I understand the teaching English part.  Is that your long term plan or just something to pass the time until you return to California?

Well, whatever your goals...good luck with them.

Bill,
I have to agree with Ronnie, more details are needed here.  If you are selling your services here, what are they?  How much do they cost?  What is the basis for your expertise?

Whoa there Ronnie, Ken -- the man did not say he was an expert.  He may not be the most clear and articulate wordsmith to ever grace this forum, but that's no reason to dump on the guy.

Beachcomer,
I certainly never intended to "dump on" Bill and really do not think I did.  I was just asking questions to understand his services rendered.  He obviously does think that whatever he has to share is valuable enough to charge for it, so there is a certain level of "expertise" implied.  My post was never intended to be harsh in any way.

Asking for more info is dumping?  BTW one who "coaches" is usually expected to have greater knowledge and experience than average...asking for more information about his cv when so little is presented is reasonable.  There is already enough of the blind leading the blind here.

I think the guy is saying that he knows a thing or two about this process and what better way to make a buck or two in a country where it's tough making a living.  Obviously Bill knows as much as most of the experts here because he's paid his dues and he actually lives in Ukraine which is more than 99% of the posters here can say. I think he's saying that if you want to come check out some of the beautiful women in Nikolaev then he might be your guy.

Thanks for the feedback.  As far as coaching goes, consider where each of you were the first day you thought about the idea of searching for a woman to love around the world.  Wouldn't it have been nice to have someone to call from time to time?  Maybe ask for some advice or where to find information about all of this?  How about all the times you thought you found miss right only to discover she was a he?  Maybe you went to meet her and had a small problem because she would only meet with you for two hours in 8 days?  Did anyone ever wonder why most doctors specialize in one field?  It's because they don't know everything and just because they have doctor in front of their name, does it make them an expert in every illness or medical condition. Did you ever wonder why an attorney has a couple hundred books on a shelf?  It's so he has another way to find knowledge and history.
What we do is help people find information.  Sometimes it comes from our own experience and sometimes from others.  I send many men to this forum as well as others to search out ideas, experiences, mistakes and achievements.  We're not experts by any means.  We're just two people who help others when they need it.

Hey Ronnie, thanks for the feedback.  I traveled to Ukraine two times, in this time, I've lived here 250 days.  Because of my ability stay here for some time, it has allowed me to gain a tremendous knowledge of Ukraine.  Just in the language school where I teach I've met so many people, I've lost count.  I enjoy every minute here because at the age of 55, I am like a sponge when it comes to learning.  I like riding the old buses here because each time I do, I learn a little more about people, culture, laws and more. I do this just about everyday.  I walk through the city with my friend Diam meeting managers and business owners to introduce them to our language school.  Right now, while I am typing this, there is a class in progress.  These are people who I have had the pleasure of meeting so many times.  Often socializing in the evenings or a number of other places including the zoo.  My reason for telling you all of this is that I have been able to do something that I will remember for a lifetime.  In Nikola, I am the only native English speaking person teaching American English.  In the United States, I would be considered too old to employ with just about any company you could name.  Life begins at 50, live it!
