Well Guys, Svetlana and I are enjoying the sun in Punta Cana at the Bahia Principe Ambar Tomorrow we're having a Beach Dinner where I'll propose to her!! I have a ring sitting in our room safe!
If she accepts..... ......... then starts the long drawn out process of getting her back to me in Canada
Wish me luck and I'll let you all know Friday how it went.

Good luck, my proposal was in Venice, I have no photo of this time but some Japanese tourists have them... They photographed us at this time.

About the long process for Canada... I am really upset now and prefer to say nothing.

We had a great time at the GBP Ambar together. Poor Svet began her journey (and I'll use eastern standard time), via rail from Kirov at 7:30am Friday the 3rd. She arrived in Moscow at 9:30pm Friday and was whisked away by our chatty cab buddy Vlad, to SVO-2 for a 1:30am flight. She was supposed to arrive in Punta Cana 4 1/2 hours ahead of me, but the Air France transfer at Charles De Galle had 6 hours of mechanical problems before departing. She didn't arrive into Punta Cana until 3 hours after I did at 11pm Saturday! Oh she was so tired when she arrived. Originally she was so pleased that she'd be arriving before me so she could head straight for the Ambar to shower and dress up like a Tsarista awaiting my arrival!! Imagine what such a long trip does to anyone.
I arrived into Punta Cana at 8:00pm and decided to wait within the baggage area until Sveta arrived. I knew that once I left the baggage area there was nowhere to sit and I'd be hounded by porters and cabby's. While there, I overheard a young lady talking in accented English to another passenger about waiting for her boyfriend. She sounded Russian but I wasn't sure... After the baggage area cleared and we were the only two left I was curious, so I went over and asked her if she was waiting for the Paris flight and if she was indeed Russian. She wasn't, but rather Ukrainian. Natalia was her name. She'd flown in from LA at 12pm and had been waiting for her Ukrainian boyfriend to arrive via Paris for 8 hours. This indeed was a day of delays and waits! She was extremely distraught because nobody could tell her why his plane was late or whether it was coming at all. Worse, she didn't know the name of the Resort they were supposed to stay at!! I told her not to worry, that Svet had Text me just as her flight was leaving Paris and that indeed the Arrival Info board was correct on the ETA of the Paris flight arrival. Oh god she was so relieved when I told her! Anyway, we sat and talked about everything Russian and Ukraine. She was very curious about Svet and I and how we met. It turns out that, like Svet, she has a degree in 'English as a Foreign Language' and has lived in both Canada and now in the USA. It was very interesting to talk to someone from the FSU who spoke in almost as fluent English as Svet and had so many similarities. It certainly passed the time.
The Punta Cana Arrival area is semi 'open air' and when a jet lands you can hear it as if you were outside. At 10:45pm we heard a big jet touch down and we both knew it was our significant others arriving, finally!! We both raced back through the baggage area and waited behind Customs Control with huge smiles on our faces Natalia saw her boyfriend first. She ran right through Customs and helped him with his paperwork. Nobody cared! Imagine doing that at JFK or Toronto? I waited and waited and finally I saw my wee Domovyonock! I jumped through Customs too!! Ah, we hugged and hugged.... since we both wear braces on our teeth there wasn't too much tonsil diving. Aww, she looked great and those beautiful brown eyes looked up at me all teary with joy and love. It felt like the first time we ever met a year ago.... in the exact same Airport!
I have to admit we're lucky,... I've been able to visit Svet at least every 3 months. But, it's still very hard.... Little did she know I had a Big surprise brewing for her on this trip

I knew everything would be fine. Don't forget to send me and Natasha something that we talked about. As you already know I'm back in Moscow now since Saturday morning. She had to work for a few hours today so I'm sitting here at her computer burning time. Ohhhhh, the days go by so fast!
