Hi all,
Thought I would write an introduction about myself and say hi... at this stage am not sure how often I will write on here, but as you never can tell thought I would at least give a little background into myself.
Apologies, but at this stage I will leave certain personal things a bit vague.
I am a white male, aged 30 (although 31 very soon!) from the South of England who has never been married and has not got any kids. I work as a manager for a very large organisation.
In terms of experience of the FSU - I have quite a bit. To date I have now been to Ukraine on 7 occasions.
My first trip was in 2001 where I worked on a voluntary basis in Kiev for 3 months.
I thenwent back for the first time in February 2007 to find many, many changes. Anyone who has been recently will be able to tell those of you who haven't that it isn't like it used to be. The centre of Kiev is now much the same as any European capital city, I mean in terms of prices and things you can buy. This has had the knokc on effect of changing people's (women in particular) attitudes and beliefs.
In 2007 I went to Ukraine on 4 occasions and took in Kiev, Kherson and Lvov. Back in 2001 I managed to also fit in Odessa and the Crimea.
This year meanwhile I have been to both Kharkov and Kiev. I would as such say I know the country pretty well.
In terms of finding love... to date for whatever reason (me being too picky, girls not be interested, or changing their mind being just a few) I have so far been unsucessful. I am not obsessed by the idea and have been out with several girls in England during this time but know that they are not what I really want. I am however, as a result of my experience, now very sceptical about Ukraine as to whether the opportunities to marry the women are truly still there as they were back in 2001.
At this moment, I have pretty much decided that I am going to give it one last go and am currently in the letter-writing/planning stage with an idea to go back in January 2009. If it doesn't work out then however I will have to have a really hard think about it all and decide on what I am doing.
I probably should have been an accountant, but no offence to any accountants out there, I think I would find it too dull. But anyway, since 2007 I have kept a record of every pound I have spent so far on this "wife hunt"... in case anyone is interested - letter writing, my 6 trips and 3 cancelled trips have so far cost me £6,420 ($11,556 at todays exchange rate apparently!). As a warning to anyone else thinking about trying this route out - i'm a 6'1" tall, reasonably attractive guy and I am back again at square one having spent quite a bit of cash!
I have though had relatively some success in my time. In 2001 I met a gorgeous girl who I feel in love with and who came to stay with me in England via a tourist visa on three occasions. Unfortuantely however I lost her for reasons i'd rather not go into at this time.
Since then I met a girl called Nina who blew my mind and who unfortunately said no to my marriage proposal (in addition to her being refused a tourist visa - it is harder now to get them now folks). I have also met 11 other women, none of who however I am still in contact with it.
So this is me. Bye for now,
