Hi everyone,
I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester, New York and am currently doing a project on intimate relationships as part of my thesis. It would be great if you could help me by completing my online survey, and inviting your partner to do the survey too if he or she is interested. Your participation is greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you in advance for your time!

No, man, i tried, way too difficult to do it for free. It should cost at least 20 dollars to make it through.

I started and have to give up. The part where you have to hit the space bar if it fits the category makes absolutely no sense. You have partner or bad and then flash words. Am I supposed to say whether the word flashing matches partner or bad or both?!?

Hi Misha,

I'm sorry if the task was confusing. On the task screen, if you see "partner or bad" on the top left corner, you are asked to press the spacebar when you see either your partner-related word or a negative word (e.g. accident) flashing on the screen. Similarly, if you have "partner or good" on the top left corner, you are asked to press the spacebar when you see when either partner-related word or a positive word flashes on the screen.

Hope that answers your question. Sorry for the confusion and thanks a lot for your time :)

I tried but the spacebar pressing is way too fast.  Either that or my brain is too slow.  ;D
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Hi Shadow,

The spacebar task is designed that way to measure individuals' attitudes/associations below consciousness. So your brain is completely fine :)

Thanks for trying!

I have to say that I am a bit perplexed about your methodology. In having two variables (the two words), how do you know what is being associated with what and what is simply being pressed at random.

I have to say that I am a bit perplexed about your methodology. In having two variables (the two words), how do you know what is being associated with what and what is simply being pressed at random.

I noticed this as well, some words I associated with my partner were the opposite of the other adjective which caused a small red X to flash rather than the green circle, which gives the perception that the survey designers believed this to be a "wrong" answer, when in fact it was a truthful analysis. I also noticed that the survey was mind numbingly repetative!

So now hapybride,
Several of us have taken your survey, would you be so kind as to pass along the link for our survey to anyone you know who's been in a cross-cultural relationship, please?

I got to the end, but to tell the truth it was long and boring. Too many questions - and almost all the same - and i would say the survey in general is not userfriendly and not easy. Sorry for that:)
