I was wondering if the all this economic gloom and doom was negatevily affected some  of us to think more seriously about taking a trip oveseas. I would think the emails, phone calles, ICQs and skypes type of communications may still be in play, but what about air travel, renting rooms, and other costs associated with meeting a woman? Since this is not inexpensive, many people out of work, others not knowing if they will keep their jobs and independant business folks wondering when the next client will walk though the door, has any of this affected you? If so, what about the lady you are talking to? How is she handling it?

We are already married but crisis has had an impact on our project. The main change for us is that instead of buying a new house within 3 years, we are looking more to 6 years... Crisis has had no impact on my cash flow but has had a big impact on my savings and my wife must find the best window of opportunity to sell her apartment.

I am too far along in the process to quit now. But if something bad was to happen I don't think I would start again.

It is expensive and time consuming and I am not getting any younger.

Another two or three years ?  Not for me.

I agree. I did not enter the quest with blinders on. I investigated and had a pretty good idea the costs that would be incurred and the time involved. If the bottom of the relationship were to fall out tomorrow (which I do not expect) I would not do it again. Largely because of the costs and the time but the emotional roller coaster is a pisser. The waiting has aged me.
