Older women
« on: February 26, 2009, 05:18:46 AM »
I got a letter today, from a new lady.  She is 4 years older than me.  Has anyone had this experience?  What can you share about it?  As there are a few I'm going to meet.  If it works out with an older one, and that's the one I married.  Has anyone married an older woman?
Feel free to pm me, if have any advice, questions, or anything else.

If she would make a great companion and life partner, why not!

Among my many friends, the happiest seem to those who are still married to their first wife.  Chicken vs. egg issue - maybe they are naturally happy people, and this spills over into their marriage, keeping it a source of joy.

At my age the AW 4 years older than me and available seemed embittered, or at least not a lot of fun.  And the RW babushkas who wrote me had definitely let their bodies go bad, to the point that I don't think my equipment would work (which begs another question, but we will not go there).

No direct experience, although I did correspond with one. Its your decision, if you are ok with it, why not.

I dated RW as old as 47 (I was 41 at the time) and noticed that in very general terms there is a marked difference in attitudes between women on either side of the 35ish marker. The older women have much more defined and set ideas on gender roles (which may work for you or not, depending on what you're looking for in a partner).

Early on in my search there were several slightly older ladies whom were not interested in even opening dialogue because of the age difference, 2-5 years. The age difference didn't bother me in the least as I have dated quite a few older women in my past. Actually preferring them to much younger women but my preference has mostly been to my own age group.

I guess the idea of "Cougar" hasn't quite caught on in the FSU  :P

Well, not married to a Russian older woman, but my previous marriage was with a woman three years older.  I don't think our marital problems had anything to do with the age difference.  Really, I doubt I would date another older woman simply because of my specific circumstance.  I don't really look like a man, but rather very boyish (not saying I look young for my age.. just those ridiculous boyish features)-- which causes women to seemingly "mother" me a lot. What a drag.

If you hit it off, and she makes you happy.. go for it full bore.  Just make sure you're not settling for something but really want from the depths of your soul to wake up next to this woman each day. Anything less will sucketh out loud over time.

The best example in my life are my parents!  My mom is older than my dad for a couple years. Three children, happily married and together many years later...  :couple:

Amazing how many men say that age is just a number when they are the older one, but something different when the woman is older.

Thanks for the replies to this one.  She has not let herself go.  She didn't state her age in the letter, just said she does not care about the man's age.  So, right away I thought she was early twenties, so I was going to tell her not interested, as I've been looking for ladies from 30 up, a couple born the same year as I.  I looked at her picture she sent, and she looks early to mid 30's.  Then I looked at her profile, and seen she was 46, going to be 47 in the spring.  The male  translator, wrote next to her name gorgeous in brackets.   :)
But, it was something I was wondering about.  Age really isn't a factor to me, unless she's below 28.  Also, I wouldn't mind the breast feeding, she's built for it.  :P
