You mentioned sending her the ring.  You should check on what she will have to pay as duty-- on another thread about rings someone said the duty on jewelry is 100% (i.e. she would have to pay the full value of the ring before she could pick up the parcel).  Before everybody jumps in and says the solution is to not declare the full value, keep in mind that it would be hard to not declare the full value and still insure it for the full value.

The duty in Uzbekistan is 300% on all goods except Russian and China made products. Galina has never paid duty on any packages I've sent so far, even with an insured value of over $1200 in perfumes, clothes ect. I sent all as gifts. I will fly there myself to see her face to face. I would never give a ring any other way. I'm well overdue for a trip to see her. 

KenC why do you post a photo from so many years ago? Yes I enjoyed many years of 6 figure incomes, until 2007 I was doing very well. It will happen again soon. No worries, In 2005 Guitar Boutique sold over $246,000 and 2006 $432,000 in New Zealand alone, making me the largest high end guitar dealer in the country. With this stinking economy their dollar is at .52 cents and killed any hope of doing business internationally. Thats ok, all the flying back and forth each month was killing me. When I quit flying I got my weight down by 60 pounds and got healthy. That was the best thing I ever did for myself.  If we can get past 2009, everything will be fine. We all hope for a brighter 2010.
