Five Years and Baby on the Way
« on: March 21, 2009, 01:25:34 AM »
Hi All,

Just wanted to share that we've just celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary and we also have our first born son due out in a month!

Seems like only yesterday I was queuing in the rain in the middle of the night for a visa!

Congrats on both milestones...

My son is now 5 months old and while it's challenging at times it is the most incredible experience of my life.

I feel pretty goofy knowing so many experienced members have been through it all and have grown families - but for me, and this being my first, all I can say is WOW!

Oh, and regarding sleep deprivation - I'm also a little embarrassed to say that in 5 months I think I've been up maybe 6 times during the night.  My adorable and spectacular wife is quite adamant that I must work and support the family so I need my sleep.  Errrr...  yes, I'm very spoiled - but she is in other ways too.  8)

Fun times ahead for you carlt99 - you'll love it!

Kuna, after 6 weeks I have the same feeling.
As new parents it is an incredible mix of emotions.
From worried that the crying does mean he has something serious to being proud when he picks up on the 'game' you just thought up.
Especially MrsShadow is great in facing some pain and worries. I already notice how fathers can be more distant (though not forever) and need to be a stable factor in this.

Perhaps with all the new arrivals we should set up a RussianBabyDiscussion topic to exchange information for new parents.  :D

Hi All,

Just wanted to share that we've just celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary and we also have our first born son due out in a month!

Congrats, carlt99!  You are in for an amazing experience :-)

Enjoy this month, after that you will be suffering (my first son is 5 weeks now)

It's 8 in the morning here, and everyone here is asleep but me....20 day old baby, mom, and dog!
We are all sleep deprived, but I value the coffee more than sleep, even though we were all up 4 times last night.

Our baby is great-- but gets hungry every two to three hours, Carl.   Baby cries; monitor picks it up.  I jump up to change the diaper; mom gets ready to nurse; dog comes running to see why baby is screaming!

Fun :-)
