just random Russian guy :)

It's a street, Pushkinskaya ulitsa in Kiev and if you follow it runs close to McDonalds,
however when you are in Ukraine you should eat the local cuisine and not the garbage
at McDonalds. You can find a better place to eat I think on Shevchenka ulitsa  ;D
which runs parallel to the Nyvka river. Always eat tasty local food rather than third
world McDonalds type food.

Udachi!

Gator--there is a hole in the ozone layer that cover Australasia ( ie Aus % NZ -- as the area had a traditional name) -- so the net effect is that the burning rays are far stronger down here than in other parts of the world.

As I wrote above.  This is something that seriously cannot be emphasised enough, whether from the point of view of a potential immigrant (FSUW or anyone else) or a simple tourist.

Part of that gives people are more aged skin--unlike the pristine skin of many in the northern EU countries. That EU skin--even those that tan nicely in EU summer--will be burnt raw in Aus in a few hours unprotected in the sun.It is actually very hard to tell people the risk they are taking in the sun--even a modest temperature day ( eg 20C /70F) can burn--let alone a 40C day!!
Australians led the world in creating powerful sunblocks, hats and clothing that are worn as a matter of course by schoolchildren to compulsory clothing for outdoor workers sun protection.

Same in New Zealand.  So many tourists take absolutely no precautions, thinking that a summer's day with only mild temperatures (e.g 20-25 degrees) won't harm them.  I can't believe the number of people I see who forego even the most basic protection - a hat and sunglasses.

As to who has the worst incidence of skin cancers-- the fact that it is very high numbers here is enough-- without getting into a silly debate about Colorado incidence(we also have high country in AUS--and my guess is NZ has more skiing than Colorado!!--- and all under a hole in the ozone layer--btw--I do not know if that hole extends to NZ fwiw).

I don't think cc3 was getting into a "silly" debate; just pointing out the risks of living at altitude.  It's the same reason that Concorde always had radiation meters going when flying at its usual cruising height.  As for the hole in the ozone layer, it most definitely does extend to New Zealand!

In summary-- the Aus sun will burn most raw-regardless of skin colour to start with.

Northern Hemisphere readers need to think of the Australian city streets and beaches as being the equivalent of the middle of the Sahara as far as burning goes.  I've spent very hot, dry days in India, China and Russia, and there is simply no comparison.

As Pushkin said, "Я, конечно, презираю отечество мое с головы до ног — но мне досадно, если иностранец разделяет со мною это чувство. " - I absolutely despise my Motherland, but it annoys me when a foreigner feels the same for my country.

I read this to my husband.  His response was "Pushkin, actually, is not really Russian, and Vyazemsky wasn't exactly a Russophile."  He then told me Pushkin's comment, cited above, was in response to this poem -
Quote

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Did your ex-Russian boyfriend give 100-200$ to your family ?????  So, why should Western men be different ???

Because $200 is the average Ukrainian's monthly salary and that's those that are actually working and not on a reduced pension. Conversely, $200 is close to or about what an average WM makes in ONE DAY.

If there is another reason needed how about the fact that they are now family?! Doesn't that mean anything?

Obviously there needs to be a limit, but come on!  :cluebat:

I know.....holy thread revival.  :cheesy:

I have eaten at McDs in several different countries.

Nothing remarkable to report.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

That's very dangerous, how will they protect your eyes from umbrella drinks?
